Border control and liquids

My daughter is going to France with the school Dover to Calais. Are there any restrictions on taking liquids as you would get for flying? I’m sure there are not but she won’t believe me! I can’t find a definitive answer either

You can take a Jerry can full of fuel, so the type of liquids your DD will be carrying aren’t going to be an issue.

@pugwash

I suppose for completeness it has to be said there will be dangerous goods limits (e.g. some paints ) and Customs limits but ultimately for the sort of thing your average holidaymaker carries, as @SweetAsIcedChocolate says it's effectively and AFAIK no restriction ..

Don't forget holidaymakers with camping cars and caravans will have cupboards full of household liquids travelling with them ... the liquids/100ml limit/plastic bags faff is an aviation thing.

I would tell your DD to look at the port/ferry company's website for info but take care, for some bizarre reason one of the Port Operators websites has a security advice link, which if clicked takes you to generic info and if you click one of the tabs within that it you to a generic EU leaflet entitled...

" Which liquids can I take on my flight as hand luggage? 🙄

Really useful and maybe potential for confusion if not read carefully.

Not really. In the sense of full size bottle of shampoo and other normal toiletries? All fine!

If she’s a mischievous sixth former then there’s amount of alcohol you’re allowed to import though.

Liquid sizes are not a border control matter (other than quantities of alcohol). It's an airport security issue.

Thank you all, I will show her the replies as she doesn’t believe me! Joys of being 13 and knowing everything 😁
