Silver wedding anniversary ideas

Struggling for inspiration! Not sure whether to go on our own or have a longer family holiday with DD. If we were to leave her (aged 14) we could only realistically leave her with grandparents for a week and go during a school holiday as they're not local. Would love to hear where others went and if they left kids behind! Anniversary is in August

Haven’t yet had silver anniversary but just been away on a cruise (with kids) for a big birthday

Did you enjoy it? DH is a bit unsure about cruises as he's worried it will feel busy with lots of people around...

Yes we all loved it. Whether or not a cruise ship feels crowded depends on the time of year and the size of the ship. To be fair, new megaships with 5,000+ passenger capacities are designed to handle crowds and spread people throughout the ship, but with that many people on board, some crowding is unavoidable. Best to stay away from ships with more than 3,500 passengers. Embarkation day always feels crowded, but after that you can quickly learn the busiest and quietest times and places onboard. One of the best ways to avoid crowds is to book a suite. Yes, it costs more but is sooooo worth the price. When the crowds get annoying, you can always retreat to your own balcony and have room service brought in for dinner! At the very least, book a balcony stateroom. Retreating to your own balcony at the end of a busy day in port with a nice glass of wine and room service is priceless.
