Hi, has anyone done a flight like this with this age baby? How was it? I'm not very keen as it will be at Christmas and I'm worried about flu etc on the plane plus such a long flight. Our baby was born in May full term but high risk pregnancy, not huge size and a long road to get her and I'm very protective. Husbands parents have been here all summer so have seen their grandchild but she would be meeting cousins and aunt and uncle there.

I’ve found that 3-9 months is the easiest age to fly long haul with a baby. They still sleep a lot and nap on the go in a carrier or car seat. They’re not very mobile and you’ve got used to being a parent.

If far rather do it at that age than when she was over 1!

If you're worried about germs then honestly she will be at the stage of putting everything in her mouth so I wouldn't let the risk of flu put you off.

It’s easy at that age. Honestly, it will be fine. We went on holiday with DS at 6 months and then emigrated with him to oz at 12 months.

Easier at that age as others have said. Newly mobile is the worst.

We went to NZ to see family at 8 months and it wasn’t the best 2 days of my life travelling (worked out it took us 46 hr door to door) but we survived it. If you are going to go sometime sooner is better than later. We found the bassinet seats a lifesaver especially on the 2nd flight and DD barely fit in it at 8 months. Definitely easier when they are not mobile as well. She is 12 months now and much more difficult on flights. Also with weaning etc it’s easier earlier when they are not yet on 3 meals and you can mostly give milk on the plane and not worry too much about what they are eating while you are there.

Thanks! Sounds doable
