Abroad or Uk?

We are going to Iceland for a few nights next month but also have another week off booked immediately afterwards. (Me, DH and dcs)

As the weather is likely to be mixed/cool in Iceland and it is an active break, I was hoping for a week of warmer weather and to relax for the second week.

We are struggling to decide on where to go, based on current (awful, unpredictable) uk weather and are wondering if we should bite the bullet and book a week abroad somewhere. Would prefer uk for ease, but find it awful in wet weather and expensive too trying to keep everyone entertained.

any ideas?

if you want guaranteed sun then I would go abroad unless you wait until the last minute to hope the long range Uk forecast is decent for the week. I went to Iceland in August and it was chilly! We didn't get much rain but it didn't feel like a summer holiday.

Definitely go abroad.

We’re going to Aldeburgh this weekend and the forecast is strong winds and rain having changed from ‘light breeze and sunshine’ (the forecast that is) a few days ago!

You can’t rely on the weather in this country, unfortunately.

Can't rely on weather in uk but I've been to Lanzarote end of June previously and it was cold! Go to Spain every August and have seen torrential rain and thunderstorms, even hailstones - in August! I would do last minute, check forecast 😁

Can you remember what sort of clothes you needed in Iceland? Struggling to know what sort of thing to take, don’t want to be cold!

Yes that’s what I’m doing but not sure how reliable long range forecasts are?

This is what I am thinking too

Take layers! I bought a lightweight down jacket (very lightweight) on a bit of a whim before I went and it was the best thing I've ever bought! Looking back at photos we had jeans or jeggings/leggings on, a t-shirt, fleece / hoody and a jacket. We didn't wear shorts at all although one of my friends has cropped leggings on one day but she doesn't seem to feel the cold (i've caught her wearing flipflops in the snow in the past!). I took a waterproof but we only had rain briefly one day in Reyjavik so we took cover indoors. It might be useful as an extra layer though. I would throw in a hat, gloves and a buff too.

I’d go abroad. Short flight. Package holiday for ease. I always book with Love Holidays the booking process is just so easy and loads of good deals on there.

Iceland is incredible, I’ve been in winter. Would love to go back and see it in the summer.

To be honest, I would normally say abroad but the heatwave is causing huge issues. Even my mum in northern Germany says they have mid-Thirties constantly.
