Where do you go with older teens?

Looking for ideas for older teens but not yet adult.

Currently on a European AI but so many younger families that teens seem a bit out of place.

Thinking about trying a villa next year, never done one as thought they'd be bored when younger plus the idea of cooking puts me off but maybe it's time.

We always do city breaks at Easter which we all enjoy but like to have a bit of a chance to chill out in the summer.

multi-location trips for us but they must have a bit of chilling out time.

California road trip - relaxing bit in San Diego and Laguna Beach at the end.

Europe interrailing - relaxing in Italian countryside by a pool for 4 days in the middle.

Thailand-busy first 8 days then 6 at beach resort in Koh Samui.

Costa Rica - loads of activity and locations ending with 3 days of beach/pool in Manuel Antonio. 3 day stop in NYC on the way home.

Utah! One of the best holidays we've ever had.

Well we arrived at our Mark Warner resort yesterday. Ds joined the teen club this morning and I haven’t seen him since! Well I briefly set eyes him in the taverna having lunch with his new found mates, and now they are all out paddle boarding. We made the right choice.

We've done AI the last 2 years for our main summer holiday (Crete last year, Fuerteventura this) and it's worked out well for us, but we only do a week so we don't all get sick of each other, or the resort!
We have 2 boys - I wonder if that makes a difference because they are still happy to chuck a ball (and each other) around in the pool, play pool, ping pong, swim and snorkel in the sea etc. I think they are quite easily pleased! We've chosen resorts without too much on offer for little ones (splash parks and the like) and there have seemed to be more older teens around than little kids.

We've also done Center Parcs for half term with extended family and all the teen cousins had a brilliant time.

Equally, a few days in Wales worked well as an extra last year, in a cottage with a hot tub, near the beach. We booked the Fforest coaster and would like to go back for the massive quarry zip line. Ds16 said it was a perfect U.K. break - 3 nights, activities every day, not too long!
