Is Rome better in Feb or June - for context, I am not a fan of the heat!

Just that really. Never been before but have been to several other Italian cities/regions and love Italy. Never been attracted to Rome but OH wants to go so we'll

Avoiding school holidays though.

It will be either Feb or June so I need to pick one of the two

I should add, late Feb or early June

Early March is lovely. Sunny enough for sun glasses but cool enough for a sweatshirt. Italians will be in full puffa jackets.

Will all the little terraces of tables be out in restaurants, I hate eating inside. In Feb I mean

I went in February and the weather was just right. Sunny but not too hot.

cherryassam · 04/07/2023 17:26

We were in Rome late May this year and it was already seriously warm - 33 I think?
And stormy. It would rain and then somehow be hotter afterwards, which I’m sure makes sense in some science-y way but annoyed me as I just wanted to feel refreshed!

I’d go earlier if possible if we were to return.

June will be warm and sticky.

Not sure re terraces. Maybe yes for lunch and for tourists? The Romans will all think it's cold.

Friends went in February and had nice weather but I think it can be a bit unpredicatable.

We went beginning of May and I had a sunburn, still lovely weather and not too hot. I think June may stretch it if you don't like heat.

October was nice - about 21 degrees. It gets dark early though.

Hobbesmanc · 04/07/2023 18:08

I think it's quite rainy in feb and can be chilly. Mind you we were in Venice a while back for Valentine's and it was shorts and t shirt weather. Not for the locals of course. They were in fur coats

bellac11 · 04/07/2023 19:10

I think Feb it is

Yes we ate outside in Feb.

NavySalt · 04/07/2023 19:16

Def February. June would be unbearable

Marchintospring · 04/07/2023 19:18

Been in Jan and Feb a couple of times and it’s never been too cold. Also way less crowds which is always good. Rome is fantastic as there is always something to look at ;literally everywhere given the whole place is thousands of years old.

If you don't like heat, definately February! Weather is unpredictable, but mostly sunny and not too cold. Plus less people so you can actually walk around and explore the place properly.

We went in Feb, was lovely, even sat outside for evening meal under the heat lamps.
