Best areas for a holiday in Turkey

I'm planning a trip to Turkey and wanted some advice on the better quality resorts areas (and which ones to avoid)

I want something with nice restaurants, nice hotels, but also kid friendly. (It will be me and two DCs (11 and 9). I don't want anything too overdeveloped / full English breakfast type places.

Has anyone got any recommendations? Thanks!

My favourite part of Turkey is the Bodrum peninsula so I’ve focussed my recommendations there:

Gumusluk is a lovely resort village, tends to be more Turkish tourists but some British. Has some really nice restaurants right on the water. It’s a pebble beach though, which I know some people don’t like!

Bitez is also nice, and is much calmer and more laid back than Gumbet but you can get to the attractions in Gumbet easily if they’re wanted. Bitez beach is sandy and great for swimming and watersports.

Ortakent-Yahşi is less of a developed resort than Bitez but the beach is really lovely and it’s more full of Turkish locals and tourists. Ortakent is more of a normal town but has a great market. Yahşi is where the resort centre is more, and there are some hotels and some lovely restaurants. Still close by to Gumbet and Bitez too.

The AI in Antalya are always popular but for a more cultural experience Bodrum is popular

@cherryassam that's really helpful, thanks. Pebble beaches don't bother me, I prefer being in the pool anyway, so that sounds promising.

I'm off to research them now!

Thanks @HappiDaze I'll look into Bodrum as well.
How developed / English is Antalya. Is it like Benidorm / Kavos?

Look at Dalyan. Chilled out town on the river, you can get the boat or bus to the beautiful turtle beach.

Ive also has a great holiday in Cirali Beach which is quite off the beaten track (and absolutely gorgeous) but it might be too quiet for your purposes.

Antalya the city itself has some lovely old parts. But from what I understand it’s more of a city than a resort if that makes any sense?

There are some pretty newly developed resorts around Antalya that are a bit more touristy in that they’ve got the big McDonalds / Starbucks etc and the more high rise hotels. I wouldn’t say any are as ‘English’ as Benidorm though.

Lara Beach has a strip and is known as the Turkish Las Vegas, although I’ve never been so I can’t verify how true that is! It’s very much dominated by large AI resorts.

I think Cirali might be more of the sort of resort you’d like. Olympos beach is really lovely and Olympos is a great day trip. It is quite far from the airport though! So transfer times will be long.

Calis beach is stunning. Pebbly but beautiful views. Ovacik in the Olu Deniz area is lovely too. I am going to Kas / Kalkan area next year which is more Turkish and supposed to be gorgeous
