Legoland Billund

Hi
Has anyone recommendations for hotels in Billund. Myself, DS (14)and DD(10)are going to Legoland, Lego house and the nearby water park . The Legoland themed hotels are £1,500+ for our stay but Hotel Svanen and the Lodge are considerably cheaper. Is it worth the the extra money to get early access to Legoland or are the other hotels better value?

Thanks

We went at the end of August and the Danish schools had already gone back so it wasn’t too busy. We stayed at Lalandia.

Same as @Fivemoreminutes1 we stayed at Lalandia a few years ago, it's a very short walk and meant we had access to the various pools and slides and what-not they have there, as well as Legoland. We got a package that included two days at Legoland. One day would be enough for some, but our children were mega-fans. I've since been back to Billund with ds post-A levels and we spent two days at the Lego house (again, one would be plenty for some). He and I were fine with a "normal" hotel but on our previous visit it was really nice to have all the water park stuff as his sister loves all of that.

I wouldn't say you need early access to Legoland, by the way, at least not if you're going once the local school holidays have finished.

Rather than the legoland hotel itself, have you looked at the other options they have. Their cabins look far better value. What dates are you looking for?

We are going 9th July as our holidays start on 1st July

We stayed on the Legoland campsite... they had pods and hotel rooms not just tent/caravan pitches.

Its only 2 weeks away, a lot of the accommodation is booked but maybe look at the Wild West cabins. 3 nights is £900

lego house is fantastic for anyone who likes building lego. Free app to save photos of everything too.

Lalandia has lots of log cabins, just over the road from Legoland.

We stayed in a really cheap Legoland chalet/hut, can't remember what sort but it was just down a bit from the pricier Ninjago cabins! It wasn't themed. Maybe they don't do them any more. It was fine - 4 bunkbeds, a bit basic, and a living room with a hotplate, kettle etc, and table and tv. There were moderately pricy pizzas on sale somewhere in that complex but of course you could bring food in (and I had a fine old time attempting to warm up the pizza, about 15 minutes walk away from the cabin, on the hotplate when I got back!). There are some basic food shops just outside the huge resort area so you don't have to spend a fortune on junk food from their canteen (though the pancake machine was sort of fun). Food (and everything else) in Denmark will not be cheap, though!

We also stayed a night at an AirB&B in Billund, which, come to think of it, was my first AirB&B booking. This was a few months before the Lego House opened for the first time (bad timing!) so a few years ago now. I hope the Legoland resort still do entry-level basic cabins, as it was fine to crash in after a knackering day at the theme park. We also went at the end of August so very quiet (Danish schools having gone back).
