AS LONG AS A PIECE OF STRING..WHERE DO I GO?

PLEASE EXCUSE THE CAPS. BAD EYES. I WANT TO ARRANGE A HOLIDAY, BUT WHERE? MY CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE CHANGED. AN OLDER WOMAN [7O'S] ON HER OWN. USE A MOBILITY SCOOTER AT HOME. A BIT SECURITY CONSCIOUS. PROBABLY A BIT NERVOUS, BUT I REALLY NEED TO DO WHAT MIGHT BE MY LAST HOLIDAY. FAMILY DON'T KNOW, THEY WOULD TRY TO PUT ME OFF. IT'S LIKE A LAST HURRAH. HAD A LOT OF TESTS RECENTLY...THIS IS THE TIME.

HAD A CRUISE..NOT FOR ME. HOLIDAYS IN BRITAIN, LIVED IN SPAIN, HOLIDAYS IN EUROPE. LOVE ARCHITECTURE, ART, AND A POOL. CAN'T GO INTO THE SEA, ON MY OWN ALTHOUGH I LOVE IT. LOVE MY FOOD AND DIFFERENT CULTURES. ABROAD, I LOVED GOING INTO THE LOCAL SUPERMARKETS, [HOW SAD IS THAT?]

AS I SAID, AS LONG AS A PIECE OF STRING, JUST WONDERING IF THERE ARE ANY SUGGESTIONS I CAN GET MY HEAD AROUND ,PLEASE.

MANY THANKS

The first place that came to mind was Las Vegas but I’m not sure that would tick the art & architecture box. But it is all on the flat & would be very accessible.

What about Paris? Wonderful city with gorgeous architecture, art & food.

Or Amsterdam?

I also love going into supermarkets abroad. Can’t beat a stroll around a massive Walmart 😂😂

San Diego is a lovely city with plenty to see and do.

Seville is also wonderful. Alcazar & Plaza Espana were highlights.

The Netherlands and Belgium. Very flat obviously in the Netherlands and not too bad in Belgium either.

Amsterdam, Lieden, etc. then Bruges and Ghent.

Great architecture and art (Rijksmuseum for example), easy public transport on the trains, food good, short flights and plenty of supermarkets!

Go girl.

I'd go to Scandinavia. Or what about a 5 star experience here?

WedTheBed · 25/06/2023 21:57

Hungary? Some beautiful buildings, great food, lovely boat rides on the river. The city is beautiful.

Mmmm. Any thoughts on traveling alone ? 5Star in Britain ...suggestions?

Maybe look at a company called One traveller, my grandad (80+) went on a holiday with them and enjoyed it. They sell themselves as 'Holidays for the mature solo traveller'. They have lots of different options, I think a lot of them are group holidays, so also a nice opportunity to meet like minded travellers.

What about one of the long railway journeys Eg Transiberian or through the Canadian rockies?

Chewbecca · 27/06/2023 08:44

What didn't you like about the cruise? They can work so well for people in your situation. Would a different cruise line be an option? It makes a tremendous difference to the experience.

Europe is lovely but you need to think about cobbly streets which can make mobilising difficult. Scandinavian countries are lovely. Or a river cruise down the Rhine or Danube. Or maybe a 5 star trip to Mexico - someone mentioned the Hyatt Ziva hotel in Cancun and that looked amazing.

Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. Unfortunately, more health concerns may mean I have missed that window. Oh well, I can dream........
