Looking for tips, particularly restaurants and cafes. DD prefers veggie.
Is Copenhagen card better for odd days when there'll be heavy use?
What are the two big amusement parks like - any tips? Dd is a rollercoaster fan.
Do I need advance tickets for Vasa museum?
Thanks all

My veggie teen loves RizRaz veggie buffet restaurant in Copenhagen, Louisiana, boat trip, Tiger mothership, Sephora and Museum of Denmark( bog body). Hated Christiana as did we.

Tivoli Gardens was fun when we went. If you’ll want to do lots of rides and not want to be annoyed at wasting tickets, I think the day pass is better. Means you can ride things without thinking too much! You’d want to work out how long you really wanted to stay there though.

There’s three or four ‘rollercoasters’ but two are more for families/kids I would say. The Damon (I think it’s called!) has some loops. The wooden one is cool for how old it is, and surprisingly stomach turning according to DH who is the rollercoaster lover in our family.

It is a really beautiful theme park though. We went later on in the day and stayed until closing time, not sure if it’ll be dark when you’re going, but when it was lit up at night is was truly beautiful!

Agree with PP and highly recommend Louisiana!

We rented a GoBoat from Islands Brygge and loved it. You can take a picnic out and see so many sights from the water! There’s also a swimming area/pool thing next to where you rent the boats from which we very much recommend if you like (cold!) open swimming. It was free as well, which always helps.

Definitely factor in time to browse Torvehallerne. I’d recommend buying lunch from there one day and taking it into the botanic garden (free) to have a picnic.
Bridge Street Kitchen by Inner Harbour Bridge between Christianshavn and Nyhavn has some great street food with phenomenal views over the water.
Tivoli Food Hall has lots of places to choose from depending on preferences and taste. For Copenhagen, it’s quite budget friendly compared to eating at one of the restaurants in Tivoli.

Can I hop on here and ask how expensive is it to eat out for lunch in Copenhagen? We have 3DC (15, 14 and 11) so will be looking at cheaper places rather than Michelin starred.

Thank you everyone.

There is a great street food area, called Reffen, which is very reasonably priced. Every stall is run by a different nationality - we ate food from Afghanistan & somewhere else I have forgotten, but nothing we’d tried before. Lots of veggie options.
it’s on the other side of the harbour - but easily reached on one of the harbour boat buses - which are fun anyway (and included in a travel card)

That’s quite a lot of time in both cities which are not even that big. You could see most of what’s worth seeing in both in a couple of days. From Copenhagen for a day trip you could visit Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and heading north, little fishing villages eg Hornbæk or Gilleleje; Roskilde for the Viking Ship Museum; Camp Adventure, an hour south of Copenhagen; some castles eg Frederiksborg. Definitely do some boat trips out to the archipelago from Stockholm. Lots of boats and islands to choose from.

I have MS. I'm not able to race around from site to site. I'd rather get a feel for a place over a week than swoop into tourist spots and swoop out again and say I've "done" Copenhagen/Stockholm. Plus we get a cool train ride between the two.

We are going to Helsingor/Elsinore for a day trip which should be fun. I appreciate the suggestions @midsomermurderess

I really enjoyed just being in Copenhagen I have to say! It’s a lovely city to just spend time in, grab a coffee, browse some shops, people watch. Hope you have a lovely time @bellinisurge

bellinisurge · 26/06/2023 18:58

Thanks @cherryassam - we hadn't thought of Louisiana because it's out of town but all the suggestions of it on here have changed our minds. Thanks all

Bakken is great. 15 minutes on train up lovely coastline- oldest funfair in world set in woods, we lived there and it was our favourite

Crikeyalmighty · 26/06/2023 19:32

I've done the train too between the 2!!

Cafes mid price- I don't mind the cafe Vivaldi chain in copenhagen and zest is good and on a lovely and central spot- nice courtyard area too

Greasy spoon is great in Stockholm - not central but easy to get to - they have 3

JaninaDuszejko · 27/06/2023 13:31

We spent two weeks in Stockholm 23 years ago and found plenty to do so I think a week in each seems fine. My Stockholm advice is fairly out of date except to say the Vasa museum was fabulous, and we loved Skansen as well, and also the boat trip to Gripsholm. Can't remember if we took the boat or the train to Drottningholm but it's wonderful as well. That's 4 days straight away!

Fraaahnces · 27/06/2023 13:33

Sounds like an amazing trip. I would also look at getting a ferry around the harbors just to soak in the views and relax.

bellinisurge · 27/06/2023 13:44

Thank you all. Much appreciated

@JaninaDuszejko Skansen is lovely with kids!! Vasa is fab too- I loved the Abba museum but probably not with kids - Uppsala is a very lovely city too and easy on the train

Crikeyalmighty · 27/06/2023 13:57

Can also recommend Reffen which I see @Withinthewhirlwind mentioned too- like an old style Camden stables - fun and affordable- you go on boat or bus-

bellinisurge · 27/06/2023 14:38

Cheers!

Yeah, we went to Uppsala as well but I thought a pair of scientists going to a University town to see a thermometer was a bit of a niche interest 😁

Crikeyalmighty · 27/06/2023 16:23

@JaninaDuszejko interestingly our friend there is a scientist too !!
