Liverpool Recommendations

Hoping to have 2-3 nights in Liverpool in early August.

Looking for recommendations for hotels and restaurants.

Budget for hotel would be preferably up to £180 a night, king size bed preferred, walking distance or easy public transport from Lime Street.

Restaurants - any price range, any cuisine. Prefer independents / small chains.

I second Dale Street Kitchen for breakfast, always really nice and the staff are so lovely. There’s sometimes a queue but usually moves quite quickly and it’s worth the wait.

Look up The Scouse Ghetto Gourmet on TikTok/Instagram, he visits and reviews some really nice independent places.

I’ve only been to the Manchester Maray, but, yes, it’s really lovely.

Thank you everyone!

Have added lots to our list.

Think we’ve got a decision to make between The Resident, Malmaison and Hope Street Hotel for hotel. I’m guessing we’ll be okay walking back to any of these at night? Will be a mixed group.

Maray looks right up our street, as does the Greek Taverna.

We’ve got a big birthday whilst we’re hoping to be there so it sounds like The Art School or Panoramic 34 might fit the bill for a bit of a treat.

If you like steak I would recommend Cowshed - it books up quickly though so needs to be booked in advance.
I also second Casa Italia- gorgeous family run Italian that often has a queue to get in.
Tiger Rock is lovely for Thai food also.

Malmaison is a bit further if you’re looking to walk from Lime St. The other two are probably around 10-15 minute walk. I would say The Resident is a bit more central of the three. I haven’t stayed in any of them though so couldn’t say which is the best.

Firstly what a great choice its a great compact city, loads to see and do for all pockets, the city is walkable too.
Some ideas here

One stand out thing that I haven't seen in many places is the speed boat trip around the docks, they take you sedately through the best part of the Historic docks and tell you the stories associated with it then if you are up for it they run the boat flat out on part of the dock with no speed limit, it is fantastic.

I've lived here for 11 years and I didn't know about this! Thanks.

No problem
Liverpool is full of hidden gems
Gracie market not what it was but still good
Western approaches
Mersey tunnel tours
Beaches, New Brighton, Crosby and Southport
Williamson Tunnels.
Sefton Park
It really is a great place to visit but us locals just take it for granted.

Etsu is a great Japanese restaurant

Albert's Schloss is a fun place to eat.

Yes to Western Approaches - had been visiting Liverpool for years before I discovered it. Loved it.
