Hi,

Looking for some help please. I'm looking to take my DH to Rome for his 30th in March next year with our DS who will be 1.

Can anyone recommend some hotels central to all the main tourist points? I don't want to be overly fussy but looking for a clean & well maintained hotel that offers B&B

Thanks

The upside of this very sweet little hotel is space to roam for your dc.

It is in a very nice piazza and in the iddle of all things Trastevere - walking distance from a few bridges that will bring you to Renaissance Rome.

BUT - the piazza can be noisy (not insane) at night.

BUT - most piazzas are.

We stayed here and can highly recommend it! Amazing location, everything was within walking distance (although we did get a taxi to the Vatican). Breakfast was served in the room so it was really convenient to just have it in-between getting ready to go out for the day. If you can get the Superor with Balcony room even better, stunning views over the Torre Argentina.

Albergo del Senato, right beside the Pantheon.

Anything right by the pantheon. I’ve stayed in Albergo abruzzi and albergo del sole. It’s just the best location

Leave well before the Easter madness!

Stay in Trastevere if you can

It's the old town and gorgeous with lovely squares to eat abs drink in and a market

It's a beautiful short walk to central Rome

I went there at your age with friends and we just adored that location

It was super easy to get everywhere from there and we visited all the classic sights. We used the underground to get to some places

Do not stay anywhere near the Main train station because it's awful and like every grim part of any other large European city.

Don't think that being super central is necessarily a good thing it really isn't a lot of the time

We found Rome very easy to navigate and it's still one of my favourite cities.

The streets are narrow and cobbled so take a suitable pushchair for your DC that's solid enough and not to wide as it'll get in everyone's way

Thanks everyone will start going through these now. It’s a nightmare as my husband normally books these things so trying to do it as a surprise is tricky! We have a Joie travel pram - hopefully that will be ok as our mamas and papas one is quite bulky and harder to store / fold. Thanks again

We stayed at the Hotel Traiano which is just up some steps from Trajan's Column. It was family run and very nice. Some amazing bits like the ceiling in the breakfast room. We walked to everything apart from the Vatican.

Highly recommend

River Palace Hotel right by Piazza de Popolo and a short walk to all the main sights.

Very clean and includes breakfast too.
