Italy - recommend an all inclusive

We'd really like to go to Italy for a week, ideally two and we'd like to go all inclusive as we always go all inclusive. We wouldn't rule out a villa but to be honest we go on holiday to relax not to cook or clean for ourselves, and if we go B&B etc we might as well go all inclusive for the money we'd spend eating out.

I did look at some half board options but the menus are fixed and I don't want to pay for something fussy teenagers might not like. Would prefer buffet choice.

We're thinking of lake garda, maybe somewhere near rome, or somewhere near sorrento - needs to have stuff to do for 2 teenagers who will be 16 and 17.

We have a max budget of £6000

I’ve never known AI in Italy. I don’t think it’s the fine thing there, personally I love AI but the whole point of Italy is to explore the food and drink as much as possible.

Motherhubbardscupboard · 03/06/2023 11:19

I also don't think think you'll find what you're looking for in Italy. Mark Warner seem to have a resort in Sardinia and it looks like Neilsons have one on mainland Italy, you could look at those. They're not always AI.

LynnImstuckontheringroad · 03/06/2023 11:37

TUI has an AL inclusive resort in Calabria.

LynnImstuckontheringroad · 03/06/2023 11:37

*AI

MissyB1 · 03/06/2023 11:39

I was going to suggest Mark Warner or Neilsons but they are usually half board, but the teens would be busy all day!

LilacRos · 03/06/2023 12:00

I don't think AI is much of a thing in Italy. Italian half board options often have a very limited choice.
DS stayed HB in Sorrento last year and they had a choice of lunch or dinner for the meal, might that be an option?

storminamooncup · 03/06/2023 12:11

Not a sporty family to be honest! More food, history, culture, beach, pool.

We stayed at a lovely all inclusive near Sorrento but it seems they've gone half board now.

Grantanow · 03/06/2023 12:26

Half board can be very useful as it frees you up during the day.

AnnaMagnani · 03/06/2023 12:31

If you like food, history and culture why not a hotel?

AI is more of a beach and watersports thing surely. A lot of the joy in Italy is going to small random restaurants and wandering around town, not being in a resort.

Your other option would be a catered agriturismo but then you need a car to travel into town.

gogohmm · 03/06/2023 12:33

It's a waste to go ai ad there's so many nice places to eat - book a villa, apartment or hotel b&b. I recommend Sicily, reasonable to eat out

rookiemere · 03/06/2023 12:35

Ischia is meant to be beautiful. I think you fly to Naples and get a ferry from there. This place is AI www.ischiaprenotazioni.it/hotel-ischia/hotel-all-inclusive-ischia

TheCyclingGorilla · 03/06/2023 12:35

Being related by marriage to Italians, I think they'd be offended by the idea. They love going out to lunch, dinner and the evening strolls! There's so much to see and do in Italy why would you want to be bound to a hotel all day?

rookiemere · 03/06/2023 12:39

Or found this place in Sorrento www.aminta.com/en/all-inclusive-sorrento with choice of 5 dishes for lunch and dinner.

Vermin · 03/06/2023 12:39

There are a few masserias in puglia that do AI but the budget is more like £6k / person. Have a look at agriturismos with a restaurant with a pool perhaps? But as PP say, but of a waste to do AI in Italy! ESP if you want to be out doing cultural stuff. The holiday factory buffet thing doesn’t really exist in much of continental Europe.

RowenaCoxwell · 03/06/2023 12:40

Hi OP, we stayed here a few years ago and loved it, the food and drink were fabulous. It’s waiter service in the restaurant so not your usual AI bunfight. Our kids were similar age to yours and had a great time. There’s a shuttle into Sorrento, but you can walk it. We found an old Roman road that leads to a lagoon for a bit of sea swimming about 15 mins walk away. Easy to get to Pompeii and Herculaneum. There’s a minimum age of 16 at the hotel. https://www.tui.co.uk/destinations/bookaccommodation?productCode=029450&tab=overview&noOfAdults=2&noOfChildren=0&duration=7&flexibleDays=&airports%5B%5D=BHX&flexibility=false&when=16-06-2023&pkg=1125188919/3/531/7&tra_o=1245417884/4085332&tra_i=1245417947/4085333&units%5B%5D=029450:HOTEL&packageId=029450ITCM002816868736000001686873600000TOM755616874784000001687478400000TOM7557DD011125188919/3/531/7&multiSelect=true&index=1&&brandType=T&dp=t&bb=AI&price=pp&rmpc=1%7C2%7C0%7C0%7C0%7C&rmtp=DD01&rmbb=AI&fc=n&greatDealDiscount=0&bb=AI&price=pp#page

KnittedCardi · 03/06/2023 12:55

There's a Forte Village in South Sardinia, but it's not cheap. As pps, you don't get AI in Italy. It's just not part of the culture. Thank God!

tennissquare · 03/06/2023 12:59

Try Tui in Sicily near Taromina. We have also done Lake Garda and Sardinia with almost AI.

TwigTheWonderKid · 03/06/2023 13:26

You'd be crazy to go to Italy and be AI. If that's important to you I'd go somewhere else.

MissAmbrosia · 03/06/2023 19:28

I would never dream of AI in Italy. Half the fun is finding a nice restaurant/place to have an aperol with a view. You can eat out very cheaply too. Have never seen anywhere offering more than half board - and that tends to be limited in choice.

Hoppinggreen · 03/06/2023 19:30

Apart from the fact that AI in Italy seems a shame you may struggle with your budget. We are paying £5k for a villa for 10 days in July in The Italian Lakes

MissAmbrosia · 03/06/2023 19:32

I meant to add - the rooms were cleaned every day - beds made, fresh towels etc, but we also had a DW/WM and full self catering facilities.

storminamooncup · 03/06/2023 21:29

A villa with a private (not shared) pool in Lake Garda could be an option if the price (including flights and car) wasn't too dear. I'd prefer not to cook though. Where is your villa @Hoppinggreen ?
