$7050 enough for Orlando? (6 people)

Hi all,

Heading to Orlando in October as a family of 6.

Ages are 28,30,10,2,1 and 80.

The 80 year old wants to stay at the hotel only and occasionally wants to go shopping.

The kids and two adults will go to Disney and then the adults will go to universal alone (in the evenings)

I've got $7050 for food and shopping for the two weeks. We don't want to go mad and will probably share meals with the kids as the potions are bigger.

Just a bit conscious of running out of money.

Thanks

Thank you everyone we're staying offsite.

I know it's $83 each per day but I don't expect to be spending that on the 1 & 2 year old so hopefully that frees up some money.

We'll just have to make do, I'm sure we'll have a lovely time as long as we can eat and get a couple of souvenirs then it'll be a success! Haha

Thank you everyone Flowers

Have you checked the shuttle
Buses are as good as they sound? Quite often they are not that frequent / reliable.

If you are staying offsite most only offer shuttles to either universal or Disney, not both. We had to get Uber to Disney and with a car seat for a family of 5 it was pretty expensive. We ended up hiring a car halfway through as it worked out cheaper.

The shuttles were good but we needed to be up early the day before we wanted to go to book a slot, you can't just turn up and get on, plus go get home we often had to wait for a second bus as the first was full then there was the day it broken down and if course the days they were late due to traffic or accidents.

The hotel we are staying at offer to Disney and universal however only the adults will be going to universal so can catch an Uber/Lyft if need be.

Pre covid at this hotel you used to be able to just turn up and get on, not sure if that's the case anymore but I'll message and ask just so we know what's what when we get there.

Thank you

Currently debating the same. We did it with 4 of us my mum, partner and a 2 year old. We had 6k between us but ate fairly mixed and quite a few higher end restaurants. We didn’t shop as found prices in outlets etc to have jumped massively meaning savings weren’t what they were and practically spent most on food and drink. In all fairness probably better looking at the app to get an idea of menu prices as I worked out that going to an actual restaurant was not much more than the fast food places.

I do hope you're talking about an overall budget, & not taking that amount in cash .

It'll be on card - we don't carry cash.

Thinking we can up that amount to $9000 which seems more doable - not absolute luxury obviously but less scrimping and like said we probably won't be sending anything on the little ones really apart from some toys so it's like $180 each a day.

I don't know it's so hard to figure out haha

Honestly OP youll be fine and have a great time, it's plenty of money.

I recommend Chase, zero fees and Chase cash points everywhere if you did want to take cash out, but better still 1% cashback on your spending! We made well over £100 paying off our holiday balance and doing most of our holiday spending on it.

Sounds fine OP, not lavish but certainly reasonable. We went in October (family of 2 adults and ten yo) and spent nearly 4k but we didn't remotely attempt to budget and ate out for every meal.

We found ihop / Dennis breakfast was enough to see us through to dinner either just snacks in the parks - pretzels, ice cream etc. On the days we went to universal we did voodoo donuts for breakfast 😋
$500 ish of our spends were on lyft- we only used the shuttle once. We also had plenty of beers and cocktails and bought gifts out of that.
Enjoy - we're going back next year too!
