How much is a cup of coffee in Puglia

We are going away for a self-catering holiday to Italy, Puglia. We are very excited, however I haven't managed to save as much towards expenses as I was hoping to. Our apartment doesn't have a coffee machine. Can anyone with a recent Italian experience tell me how much on average does a cup of cappuchino/latter cost at an everage cafe in a seaside town over there? I am considering buying and bringing our own coffee machine. Or maybe it would be unnecessary? I do love my coffeee

So I was last in Puglia in 2019 and I can’t specifically remember how much a cup of coffee was and I’m sure inflation is a factor in Italy too. I’d guess no more than 1.50EUR for an espresso and maybe 2.50 for a cappuccino. The latte not such a popular drink there so I don’t know. Anyway much less expensive than a Starbucks. Obviously the more touristy the place the more expensive.

Espresso about a euro, cappuccino no more than 2. Definitely wouldn’t bother taking your own coffee machine, no need!

Should have added - went last September, had coffee in some very touristy spots (like Sassi di Matera, Polignano a Mare) and never felt like we were being ripped off. It was gorgeous!

Taking a coffee machine to Italy, I have heard it all now! 🤣🤣

I think the price of buying your own coffee machine will be more expensive than €1-3 coffees? Not sure how many a day you drink, as PP said espresso is about €1, anything else €2-3 in my experience.

Are you sure there isn’t a Moka in the apartment? if not, you could buy a pretty one and bring it home (I got a gorgeous Dolce and Gabbana one in Puglia in fact, but that’s not very budget friendly…)

Anyway, I think espresso are probably about €1.50? I only order espresso in the afternoon so don’t know how much a cappuccino would cost, just a bit more?

you should definitely try a Caffe Leccesse if you will be near Lecce! We went over NYE and still loved the Caffe leccesse and it will be soooo much nicer in hot weather!

Enjoy, it’s one of my favourite places in the world!

I live in Puglia.
Espresso between 90-1,20
Espressino- (nearest to a flat white you'll get here, but smaller) 1,20
Cappuccino- about 1,40.

So1invictus · 24/05/2023 11:35

I'd imagine there'll be a stovetop Moka as pp has said.

Espresso €1, cappuccino €1.50

Who brings their own coffee machine to Italy?? I think that might be the new definition of insanity.

Enjoy the trip and the glorious coffee.

I hope it’s cheaper than Portofino, OP. I was ripped off 23 euros for a coffee and an ice cream last week! Italy seems much more expensive than my last visit, pre pandemic.

I bring coffee bags when I go away or something like this www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/307339775. Not as good as a proper coffee, but better than nothing. You could buy a cheap cafetiere and bring that with you.

Just don't order a latte like someone who was travelling with my dad did, wondered why they were given a glass of milk.🙄

BabyStopCryin · 24/05/2023 21:55

I’d be surprised if there isn’t a coffee maker in the accommodation.
