Asking for a Discount at a Hotel

Has anyone had any luck in negotiating a discount for a hotel stay?
We are looking to go to the Caribbean for a last minute break. It's currently their off season, and from what I can gather, it is quite quiet.

If for example, a hotel has an 'offer' on their website for a stay for £200 per night. They have 12 rooms. You can see only 3 are booked currently. If I email directly, and ask for their best quote, they might give a discount? Not sure if it actually works!

Put it into google hotels and see which booking agent is cheapest
Then see who gives most cash back

Worth a go your way too
Just email and ask politely if they have any offers on

Hotels have to pay commission to agencies, so it's always worth asking directly.
Especially with 25% occupancy !
Good luck.

I've done this by asking whether they can apply a discount for a multi night stay. It worked.

If a standard room is £200 a night and a premium room is £220 a night, and the hotel including an offered a 20% direct booking discount for a stay of more than 4 nights, do you think we'd be too cheeky to say, "If we stay 7 nights, can we have a premium room for £200 pn"?
It's the kind of hotel where people tend to stay 3 nights or so.

I’d just email and ask. I would like to stay on x dates in a premium room for seven days. My budget is £1400. Would this be possible?
