Hello
We are thinking of doing a bit of a hiking weekend early June in the UK and wondered if anyone had any recommendations - Hoping for a nice walk 3-4 hrs per day with nice scenery a few pubs and a B&B
TIA

We only have two days in the Peak District . Any advice on a where to stay would be great. Castletown, Bakewell and two hikes though I like the idea of one day hiring bikes

Castleton is a great base and the walk along the Mam Tor ridge from Castleton is hard to beat.

We also love Kinder and twice have done a walk from Hayfield following the mass trespass route up on to kinder and along to kinder low. It’s a really lovely route following a stream up, there’s a waterfall at the top and some amazing rock formations. Most people seemed to be doing kinder from Edale via Jacob’s ladder so we had our ascent and descent route more or less to ourselves.

There are loads of lovely places to eat in Castleton. We stayed in a holiday cottage, think half the village is holiday lets so you shouldn’t find it too tricky. A few hotels as well.

We have also stayed in Hope and Nether Edale, both are close by and equally lovely but there was nothing in Nether Edale at all!

We've stayed in Bamford and walked via Hope to Edale and back over Mat Tor and back through the valley (long walk). Was great. I'd stay in Hope not Bamford tho as it has more cafes and a nice deli. Edale would also be a good base. We've also stayed in Hayfield, and done Kinder Scout. As I said below, all these have decent public transport.

Lots of choice in the Lake District. Could hike part of Hadrians wall.
If you want coast then do part of the Cleveland Way, Ravenscar to Robin Hoods bay is beautiful you could then walk to Whitby.

Hassop station do bike hire for the Monsal trail which I would recommend over Middleton top.https://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/visiting/places-to-visit/trails/monsaltrail

If you park at Cromford meadows you can visit the Mill there then walk along the canal up the hill to black rocks (you can climb to the top of the rocks ) . If you continue along the path the stone centre is a nice place for a snack and is quite interesting too https://www.nationalstonecentre.org.uk/

Monsal trail: Peak District National Park

The Monsal Trail is a traffic free route for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users through some of the Peak District’s most spectacular limestone dales. The trail runs along the former Midland Railway line for 8.5 miles between Blackwell...
