Florida - am I being realistic?

We are planning a Florida trip with DC 17 &12 we've never been before and not sure that we will go again so need to fit as much in as possible.

We plan to stay for 17 nights and want to do the following:

Disneyland - all parks
Universal
Cape Canaveral
Air boat trip - Everglades or similar
Beach - Clearwater beach for 2/3 nights

Our plan is to rent a villa/condo on one of the Orlando resorts, have 2 nights in Hard Rock Universal hotel (for the express passes) and relocate to the beach for the last 3 days for a relaxing end to the holiday.

My worry is that the list of things we want to do is unrealistic and is going to be completely exhausting.

Any thoughts?

@Lavendersquare have a look through the news, Twitter, TikTok videos, etc. re Florida. I would hold fire on booking anything for the time being or make sure you have a favourable cancellation policy on any booking. There may be a time of unrest there from what locals are saying about it.

Yeah a lot of business are closing because of the political unrest. A lot of boycotting too. I wouldn't risk it!

There's a lot online, especially TikTok about an apocalyptic Florida including food shortages etc, an anti DeSantis agenda (not saying he doesn't deserve an anti agenda!) but it's very much life as normal in Florida, a lot of online hype.

MessyBunny · 22/05/2023 12:28

We did all that (not quite every park) and fitted a Caribbean cruise in the middle, totally doable.

From what I could see the other day on a local's live video, it isn't busy like it usually is. As lavenderhaz said, it's been reported that a lot of businesses have closed or are closing on quiet days because they can't afford to stay open. In times of unrest, crime naturally goes up. People could say the issues we are facing here is online hype but it depends if you are part of the haves or have nots. It's entirely subjective.

I've not seen anything about food shortages but it's the equivalent to Brexit here (amongst other issues they've had with discriminatory laws being passed) and we have had issues with the food supply chain ourselves.

By all means, people should feel free to book a holiday but I hope there's a way out if at the time of the holiday, things aren't doing to well over there.

@ReturnoftheMuck I'm here now, it feels like it always does, hot and busy!

If it wasn't for the fact I follow American politics I wouldn't have a clue what's going.

This is also a quieter part of the season, in-between spring break and summer peak season. It will pick up again from Memorial Day weekend this weekend when a lot of the schools break up.

Look at the crowd photos from last month, spring break season was HEAVING.
