Sandaya camping sites - has anyone been before?

DH and I are looking to take our 2 DCs to France this September (driving, via Eurotunnel) with a stop off in DLP then onwards to a coast... Understanding it's a long drive, but we're torn between south of France or the west coast, closer to Spain.

We've got our eye on a Sandaya 'luxury' campsite (basically a chalet), specifically the Souston site.

I was hoping there might be MNer who has visited a Sandaya site before and can recommend? Any tips for driving to France with kiddies also appreciated

No advice on the campsite as we haven't stayed at a Sandaya before, but will be this summer for the first time so watching this thread with interest.

For the journey we planning on buying this: i-SPY On a Car Journey in France: Spy it! Score it! (Collins Michelin i-SPY Guides) amzn.eu/d/0avtzu8. We recently bought the UK motorway one for a long trip and our 5 year old loved it.

Depending where you’re starting from in the U.K., thats a long drive to that site.

I’ll caveat this with we did it with a 10 MO so no idea how it would go now they’re older, however you’ll need regular stops and break up that journey especially the way back if you’re stopping at DLP on way down.

We essentially went to the Dordogne, stopping half way ish in France for a night after the ferry to the journey had two stops down inc overnight ferry. We then travelled up north and stayed at a Sandaya - sequoia parc. Absolutely loved it, stayed in a premium cottage was very clean, had dishwasher etc and air con. Facilities on the park were fantastic and really looking forward to going back next year. (Due another DC this year so no long travelling for us)

on the way back we stayed about an hour outside of the ferry port and had two nights there ready for day ferry back and then drive back home.

we weren’t going to book the Sandaya and just stay in Dordogne (in a gite) but soo glad for the facilities of the site and because a drive from the Dordogne to ferry ports would have been too much in one day.

Use the tolls and plan some stops, we added in some castles / historic places on the journey so we just didn’t stop at the services. There’s plenty of services with food and fast food places - McDonald’s / Burger King which if needed give you a stop off point for a walk and a lot have a kids play area in so they can burn some energy if they are of an age to use it.

We have been to a Sandaya site , kids loved it , lots to do . Large pool area with slides , wave pool , toddler area. Staff were very good, most spoke enough English to get by if needed. We had a middle of the range chalet, nice and clean. Will be using them again , they were pretty cheap considering what you got and compared to Euro camp.

If you are travelling that distance get a tag for the car for the tolls will save some time as it lets you drive straight through.
