Italy in Dec?

We are looking at booking a short break in Dec, and Italy is on our wish list. Has anyone been in Dec before Christmas and what was the weather like?

We are thinking of many ways Rome but open to recommendations?

We're down in the far south, where it's humid.... and I find it very cold. It won't be warm, so wrap up as you would normally.

I went to Rome afew years ago at the very end of November. It was chilly and you will need a jacket/coat. However I do remember despite it not being warm it was sunshine every day. We had a lovely time.

We have been to Rome in December and was lovely there and temp at time was around 15C and sunny though Italian friend said we'd been lucky with weather.

Also in the south and December tends to alternate between beautiful blue skies and relatively warm and none chilling damp and grey.
I actually feel the cold more here than I do in the UK. I think because of the way buildings are designed, hard floors, big windows etc. I'm also on the coast so the humidity is awful year round.

Yep. Our house is designed to keep the heat out. Terracotta floors. White walls. Totally useless radiators. I always get terrible colds in winter. The humidity gets right to your bones.

Here in Lombardia it gets cold and very damp, the sort that gets in your bones often colder than UK in winter here.
