UK beach resort with elderly parents

Has anyone got suggestions for weeks holiday in UK. We will be travelling by car with parents in their mid 80yrs. They are fairly fit and active but not too much walking.
Thinking of Devon or Somerset (Cornwall is too far).
Ideally luxury hotel on coastline in a pretty location with little streets easy to walk around. We will have days out but would like to be based where parents can go out for a walk about if they choose.
Dad likes the sea and mum likes to browse independent shops.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Aldeburgh, stay at the Wentworth, but might be too Norfolk-y

EggInANest · 23/04/2023 20:55

Blakeney, stay at the Blakeney Hotel (but Norfolk)

Saunton Sands hotel

Sheringham, visit Holt for shops plus 2 nat trust houses/gardens, sheringham park also nat trust, visit Blakeney and do seal trips. Great fish and chips at Wells Next The Sea

Definitely not Paignton. Sidmouth would be perfect.

Aldeburgh is in Suffolk

I love Blakeney but there is very little to do there if your mum wants to wander round the shops. It's a small village, not a town

Lyme Regis can be very steep. Burton Bradstock is pretty, the start of Chesil Beach.

Yes. But the OP wanted a change from Norfolk and it is quite like Norfolk in some ways = Norfolky.

True, but unlike several of the good suggestions for small seaside towns on this thread, it has the luxury hotel the OP is looking for.

It does have 4 gift / trendy object / craft shops, 2 of which sell clothes, 2 art shop / galleries, 2 cafe - coffee shops, deli, second hand book shop, small supermarket, 2 restaurants and 2 pubs. And a variety of direct walks from the village.

Lynton on the Somerset coast is very beautiful. Some lovely hotels there with amazing views and lots of cafes and shops to potter around. Lynmouth is its sister town and is down a steep road, but there is a little cliff railway to take you back and forth. Flat walks and beautiful views once you arrive in Lynmouth.

Exmoor is on your doorstep with many beautiful places to visit and Ilfracombe, Porlock, Dunster and the Doone Valley are easy day trips.

Yes, this is a good option as well. Very pretty and less busy at high season than South Devon.

Dartmouth. It's beautiful, your Dad can wander round looking at the boats, and there's lots of lovely shops.
I took my DPs there at that age for a weekend
