Have just spent 3 hours wandering the internet trying to find somewhere that doesnt cost a fortune and that is nice! We would like to be half board, and be in a hotel with kids activities and clubs. We would like to be by the beach and a walk from resturants. DOnt mund what country or when we go (July/August). Anyone know of anywhere???!!!

TIA

Can't recommend a hotel but would highly recommend Minorca as a location. Good small sandy beaches and child friendly locals.
I went when my two were four and two and had a great time. About 2 hours flight.

Oh ok, thanks for that! Will have a look!

If you don't mind trying self catering why not look at the campsing holidays - fab for the kids as they get so much freedom. They get a pitch to play on ratehr than a balcony and most sites have good restauarants so you could eat out in the evening if you didn't fancy BBqing. Breakfast isn't a hassle as all sites sell fresh croissants etc. You can pick your site dep on level of activities, pools, near a beach or nt and kids clubs. We love these hols and have been going since the dcs were babies. Going in a mobile means you have your own fridge etc to keep your nice cheap beer and wine in!! And bit for the dcs too obviously! Can reccommend a few sites if you're interested.

"this is a good site"

You first put your flight details in, then it will bring up accommodation for you to choose.

I second Leslaki's recommdation, did all the major places (flying) before children. This time round we just load up the car and cross over to France and hire mobile homes. I used to think gosh I could never do that, but now I highly recommend doing it and have had some fab holidays and are going back this year for two holidays to Normandy and Brittany - the children love it too !

That is exactly what I have suggested to DH but he is being a bit sniffy about it!! I had some great holidays with my parents doing exactly that.

Can you recomend some places please??

Naughtynoonoo...I love your name, my DS2 is called Noah and Noo Noo for short! Very often he is refered to as Naughty Noo Noo, even he calls himself it!!

Cheers!

Hiya. here are some French campsites I can recommend. This year we're going to Italy 0 flying and NOT hiring a car so we'll see how we get on!! The site looks like it's afab for kids. Bit bigger than I would choose if I wasn't going with kids but if they're happy...!! [www.portofelice.it] we got flights with BA for £300 fr 4 of us in Aug to Venice then taxi or bus to campsite.

France:

Acapulco! St Jean de Monts. It's in a great location and is a lovely site. We are definaitely gonna go back there. Had no problems at all, nothing to complain about! August will be busy but it will be everywhere. fab kids club and pool areas. Can walk to restuarnats (campsite one was great), supermarket, amall beach, mini golf etc. main beach and fab activities short drive a way such as [www.desdunes.com] a bit further is [www.puydefou.com] - - there are loads of places arpound better than just going into St Jean itself! Although it has a superb beach and a lovely market. We preferrred St Gilles CRoix de Vie which is about 10 mins drive away which is beautiful and great for people watching. The site there tho - Bahamas Beach has a not so good pool complex - very basic and quite old.

Last year we went to Camping Life 2 fontaines with French Life and it is lovely - the pool area is MUCH better than the photo in the brochure - they haven't updated it. There are loads of beaches in the area to choose form too so may not get as crowded as big resorts. You can walk to one but it as a bit of a hike for Los. Retauarnat/takeaway not so brilliant.

I can also recommend Camping Mane Guernehue in Baden Brittany - it had a fab pool complex and great restauarant. But you could be at the top or bottom of a big hill and you have to drive to a beach. Had 3 fishing lakes, can walk to the village (PO, restauarant, tourist info, butchers, bakers etc). Site had lots of play areas and kids clubs, also a field of donkeys and one of goats so kept kids happy! The restaurant had a little Tykes play area in it so it was nice to sit and relax whil eht ekids played sae=fely beside us. Lots of lovely places to visit esp Auray and lots of the towns had little trains you could take to see around the town - dcs loved that! We'd go back!

Camping Village la plage in le Guilvenic Brittany. Small quieter site and basic amenities - pool ok but kids pool had high sides and was quite deep. Location was superb - right ona lovely beach with cycle tracks to le Guilvenic and other places. Restuarant/takeaway was OK. The site was safe for younger children but don't think it had a kids club.

We've also stayed at camoing Le Bois Masson in St Jean de Mobts. It's aSIblu site and was very British and busy even out of season. Restauarant opened onto a main rd so not great but it did have an indoor pool. We preferred its sister site across the road - le bois dormant. But if you chose St Jean, I'd recommend Acapulco.

Hope that helps!
