Train holiday in Netherlands?

I've just put in for a quote for a train trip across the Netherlands. Still waiting for them to come back to me but it's only been a few hours and there's no rush.

Has anyone else done this? Basically a no fly holiday with about 3 stops of 2 nights each so I can see Rotterdam, Delft, Gouda, The Hague, Utrecht or Eindhoven. I only asked for 3 stops out of the 6 at random. Just me going and been to Amsterdam sooooo many times. And I love trains.

www.ns.nl/en will take you to the English version of the Dutch rail website. The train stations have ticket machines which have the option of English, and I've found stations easy to navigate.

Tickets are usually cheaper in advance. I was in Amsterdam in Feb and had days out to Delft and the Hague, and I was also in Haarlem in January, which is well worth a visit.

I haven't done that in Holland but we did similar in Japan and Norway. It was a great holiday - but we organised it ourselves and it was a lot cheaper than going with an operator. Just find English version of the ticket website (assuming you don't read Dutch).

The https://9292.nl/en website or app is also really useful as you can plan buses and trams as well as trains on it.

Train travel in Netherlands is fairly easy...find lovely hotels and do the train planning via man at seat 61

You can do Delft by tram from The Hague, no need for the train. Gouda is lovely. Maybe look at Dordrecht as well? It's on the same Intercity train line. Also, have you been to Haarlem?

I've only ever been to Amsterdam so want to see more of the country.

TBF I could book it all separately but I can't be arsed. All day long I plan, diarise and arrange stuff for people and I just want someone else to do it for me. And I have the money put aside so can afford it.

I did something similar last year but arranged it myself.

Train to London, Eurostar to Rotterdam, stayed four nights there followed by another four in The Hague, then Eurostar from Rotterdam back to London.

As well as those two cities, I used trains, trams and a few buses to visit Utrecht, Gouda, Haarlem, Leiden, Delft, plus a few other places. Also visited Dordrecht by Waterbus from Rotterdam - one of my favourite outings.

I'd echo PP recommendations of 9292.nl (there's also an app), the NS site and app, plus of course seat61.com. Lots of good value tickets, including day passes, whether you buy them in person or online beforehand.

The great thing about the Netherlands is that there are so many wonderful destinations within easy reach of one another. Overall very good public transport too.

Hope you have a lovely trip.

Just seen your update. If time allows I'd consider asking the agent to include Dordrecht. It's a lovely place and near to Rotterdam. Haarlem stood out for me too but that is further north than the other places you mentioned.

Tickets are usually cheaper in advance.

This is true in Britain, but not in the Netherlands I don't think? It's only about 30 euro from one end of the country to the other.

Is the Girl back? She was in the Rijksmuseum for the Vermeer exhibition.

One thing to watch out for. I just got back from Amsterdam. I got a travel agent to book everything because I wasn't confident to do it myself. She said she can book me into the Leonardo hotel. We looked on the map and we thought it was near the centre of Amsterdam. Turned out thought that she'd booked me into a different Leonardo hotel, in Almere which is not even in Amsterdam. I could have cancelled when I found out but it worked out OK in the end.
