We have booked a trip to a UK holiday park for a few weeks time. Also have Disneyland booked but that isn’t til early 2024. I’d like a break somewhere in between but can’t think where. Where are you all off to this year? Looking for inspiration.

7 nights in Sarigerme Turkey in June
14 nights to same place in July

Not sure if we go anywhere else this year but next year we are going to South Africa and Egypt.

faloppian · 21/04/2023 15:50

We just returned from a week in Nevis in the Caribbean.

Later this year we are going to the South Pacific for three weeks. We are going to the Cook Islands and French Polynesia. We won't be going to Bora Bora though. We prefer quiet and understated places rather than instagram model kind of places.

We'll probably go down to St Ives in Cornwall for a few weeks too, it's easy as a family member in New York owns a house there.

This is a fun thread! Thanks for starting it OP.

We had a long weekend staying with some friends in Belgium earlier in the year.

We have a week in the Scottish highlands booked and a few long weekends visiting family around the U.K. but nothing else really. I could be tempted by a long weekend in Wales.

We’ve just spent all our money on a house and I have a maternity leave coming up so it’s a bit of a lean year for us holiday wise. But I do enjoy hearing what others are up to!

I love these kinda threads. It’s nice talking about what we are all looking forward to. We are actually looking at highlands too.

I feel the exact same. My auntie is at the stage where her kids are in their 20’s and she has started travelling so much with her husband. I don’t want to wish the years away but also can’t wait for it to be us.

We've already been long haul, center parcs with dc and dgc and in a lodge just early retired and got at least one holiday every month planned so far, so it's quite a few.
Ibiza
Cruise
Three spa breaks
York
Edinburgh
City break abroad
Three festivals
Another lodge
Several trips in our campervan
Tours on our motorbikes
And three booked for next year.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 22/04/2023 18:55

Dh is retired but I am stuck working full time unfortunately so have to plan holidays around work. And funding 2 dc at university😬

We are doing well for us this year….

Easter spent on Isle of Wight
July week in Whitby in a beautiful holiday let.
September Med cruise with p and o for a week. Dipping our toes in. If we enjoy it, will do more next year.

New Year probably Isle of Wight again.

annielou55 · 22/04/2023 19:13

First Mumsnet post!

Venice for 4 nights next week.
Costa del Sol for a week in June
Caravan in Wales long weekend July.
Jersey for 3 nights in August.
Hopefully Cyprus in Sept using TUI voucher from 9 hour wait at Manchester airport last summer when our holiday was cancelled as we waited in the departure lounge 😢😂.

All trips except Costa del Sol are myself and DH as we are empty nesters now , he is retired and I work part time.

When the kids were young, it would have been one family trip abroad every other year due to cost (with careful planning, usually booking a year in advance) and camping or caravan the other year.

Am taking our grown up DS 26 and DD 25 to Spain as a treat as my mum died in 2019, it will be our first family holiday together in 10 years! And has taken this long to arrange due to pandemic and cancellations 🙃.

Lordofmyflies · 22/04/2023 19:24

Our DC are late teens now so wanting to do more trips with friends/clubs which we are sadly paying for!

DC2 is off to Cyprus in June as a post -A level treat.
We're all off to Croatia in July for 2 weeks.

Londre · 22/04/2023 20:15

Brazil a week tomorrow. Been to Thailand and Jamaica this year already. Don’t have anything planned for the rest of the year however I would like to go away for a few nights in September.

Australia/New Zealand in February/March 2024 though.

weegiemum · 22/04/2023 21:50

Already had a week in the Outer Hebrides (we used to live there and still have our house).

So 10 days in July in the ... Outer Hebrides

2 weeks in October in the ... Outer Hebrides!

It's just so good to go "home" - even after 16 years in Glasgow, the Hebrides are home and we'll eventually move back.

Kids are all old enough to do their own stuff but still they're all coming with in July, it's home for them too.

We usually have a foreign holiday every 2nd year, we had a great fortnight in Croatia with dc and partners last summer, so this year we're making use of the free option!!

sewerrat · 22/04/2023 21:56

grayhairdontcare · 22/04/2023 22:22

Bellalou1234 - yes, a very special place

FettleOfKish · 22/04/2023 23:33

Sweden to visit DH's family (we'll just be getting there this time next week!)

The Algarve in July (work perk!)

Switzerland in August (work trip for me but it's tour managing a holiday trip rather than meetings / conference so I get to explore and enjoy too, just with lots of added responsibility!)

Singapore and Bali in October for my big birthday.

We've already been to Munich this year which was amazing, one of the best cities I've been to.

Woolybear · 22/04/2023 23:45

@ZoeyBartlett so envious CMA awards Nashville ❤️ 🤩

uggmum · 23/04/2023 07:29

We have just come back from 12 nights in Mauritius. Such a lovely island. I would really recommend it.

We are going to Sicily for a week in June

Then Nice for 4 nights in July.

I have booked 10 days in Barbados in September.

A log cabin with hot tub in December (long weekend)

A week in Kefalonia, with my daughter, in June. Then 2 weeks in Zanzibar in September.

Kefalonia is my fave Greek Island, so pretty, and small enough to explore the whole island. Beautiful monastery, castle ruins, great food and weather. We have been 3 times.

Iamblossom · 23/04/2023 07:47

I had a weekend in York in January, we had a great time mooching, viking museum, pubs etc, oh my days it was cold though. 🥶

Fantastic week skiing in Italy in February, probably our best ever and I've been many many times.

DH and I are off to the Lake District at the end of July for a long weekend, he's never been, taking the dogs and have a cute airbnb booked, walking, pubs, repeat.

Then DH and I have 4 nights in Dubrovnik at the end of August, very swanky hotel booked.

Long weekend in Tenerife at the end of September with DH and 2 other couples for a 50th.

Weekend with the girls in Lymington beginning of October which is always brilliant fun.

Week long cruise in October half term with all my family. Fly to Barcelona, then visit Marseilles, Florence, Rome, Pompei! (Not necessarily in that order 🤪) wouldn't ordinarily consider a cruise but it seems to tick all the boxes for the wide range of ages our group will be and actually I can't wait!

We have traditionally done a 2 week summer holiday with our 2 sons plus a week skiing, but they are late teens now with no burning desire to spend 2 weeks in a villa with their parents when they have much more freedom and independence at home, so we see no point throwing £10k at holidays like that any more. We're all about the short jaunt these days...kids optional!!

MinnieMountain · 23/04/2023 07:53

The south of France for May half term.
Grassmere in August.
Pompei and Rome in October.
I’m going to Slovenia by myself in September.
