Organised tour holiday for adult ds (late 20s)

Asking on behalf of adult ds. He's just been dumped by gf and is a bit sad so wants to book a holiday to cheer himself up. He quite fancies an organised tour or activity (not extreme activities!) type holiday. he fancies Asia but would be open to Europe if it looked interesting. Can anyone recommend reputable companies for this type of holiday? He's looking at a company called Intrepid but reviews look mixed.

One of my DC has been on several Intrepid tours. Always enjoyed them. Lots of different nationalities on the tours as they don’t include flights.

I’ve done an intrepid tour before (albeit not one of the under 30s ones) and also a similar company in terms of group sizes and styles, G Adventures. If looking for an organised tour and the Intrepid itinerary looks good I wouldn’t hesitate to book with them. Demographics of fellow travelers will vary wildly so if he wants a younger group then he’ll need to book the 30s type tours which usually have cheaper accommodation on the outskirts of town.

You could try a language course based in the relevant country. I remember when my brother was in a similar situation. Two weeks later, he came back from Spain with an aristocratic young girlfriend and a whole new social life of which he is still reaping the benefits, should I say. I don't know if he had any time to learn the language.

Great thanks, so intrepid sound ok, will get him to look at G Adventures. Any other recommendations? I suppose another alternative would be for him to book a hotel with activities 🤔 for example learning to dive?

I've looked at this company a few times, never booked but they've always been very helpful with questions etc https://www.globaladventurechallenges.com/

Good to hear about Intrepid, I'm very keen on one of their tours and hope to book soon!

It really depends what he likes to do, when he wants to go and what his budget is! Where he’s been before etc. Personally I’d do a tour in this kind of circumstance - keep moving, a fun distraction etc.

Yes you’re probably right, being in one hotel and seeing couples holidaying together might be a bit depressing!

We've done 3 Intrepid tours and would highly recommend them. The last one we went on was a rail / road trip in northern Europe. We had 3 singletons on the tour and we all joined up. Great experience

A couple of my single guy friends often go away with Exodus group holidays.

In a similar situation some years ago I did a G Adventures tour in Japan - was amazing and I would definitely recommend it! It was very helpful to have a native tour guide available given people don’t generally speak English and the written language isn’t easy either so a tour was a great way to visit, and the group was young (early 20s to mid 30s) and English speaking.
