Terracotta Army in British Museum

Ds1 is very keen to go and see this exhibition at half term. From what I can gather, this would require leaving our house at about 6.30 to catch a bus and tube and queue up for at least an hour the tickets available on the day. Ds1 thinks it will be worth it, but I would also have ds2 (3 1/2 and not terribly well behaved) with me. I am sure ds2 will love the journey but I am very apprehensive about the queuing.

Has anyone done this recently? including the queuing and going with a smaller child?

Are there any good cafes nearby that I can use as a carrot for good behaviour?

thanks

If you do get tickets on the day (they issue 500 i think) you'd have to go back to the museum much later in the day.
why didn't i book this last october when i thought of it?

Thanks NaughtyNigel, I'm wondering whether we could give it a miss to be honest, although ds1 is extremely keen...

Could your DH go early to queue and then you and children join him later - not sure whether you would all need to be in the queue. It is fab - 11 year old DS loved it.

that would be brilliant but dp won't be around, just me and the kids.

oh i fancy this tooo!

there are loads of independant cafes, panini/pasta coffee cake places just below the BM going towards holborn (museum sqaure ?)
and some parks towards Gordon Square
there is big cafe in BM but i didnt like it myself and actually dont like the inside of the BM anymore the new bit

its touristy prices but nice area to linger lovely book shops

i would go, tbh if he is this keen it would be great to let him see it and encourage his enthusiasm
for your younger child, make the journey there his day out & he might get into it you know
or take him to park before and run him around a bit so he is a bit knackered inside...and you guys can have a look..

thanks deeriguer, and roquefort too, it's good to know it's worth visiting and there are lots of cafes around . Will just have to take lots of stuff to amuse ds2 in the queue, and visit the park if we get a late slot.
