I need some help Smile
It's been over 25 years since I went abroad, passport ordered, plane tickets booked.. going to mainland Spain, not a beach holiday, at the end of July.

Google isn't of much help or maybe I'm inputting the wrong question 🤷‍♀️

So I would like some advice 😁
what is allowed in hand/hold luggage ie I'm T2 diabetic on tablets also high blood pressure tablets I assume they'll need to be in hand luggage, do I have to declare them?
Same with Shampoo, body lotion, suntan lotion etc is it best to buy there?
Hairdryer?
When away in this country I take enough for any eventuality Grin
So clothing and footwear ideas/links welcome.
Tia

Are you planning a checked in case too? Medication I would take in hand luggage. You don't have to declare it. You can put other stuff in a checked in case, shampoo etc. Liquids are limited to 100ml for carry on/hand luggage - and have to be put in a clear ziplock plastic bag. Spain will be hot at end of July. Check accommodation as to whether you need a hair dryer or not.

How much hand of hold luggage will depend on the airline, as they are all different. Carry medication in hand luggage in their boxes and take a copy of repeat prescription. I always take twice the amount needed and put spare in suitcase. It’s going to be hot end of July in Spain, so shorts, t shirts, maybe dresses. Make sure you have holiday insurance. I never take shampoo.

Your medication will be fine in your hand luggage, as will your hairdryer but you will need a plug adapter which you can buy at big supermarkets. your electronic devices, eg phones, laptops & tablets will have to be removed from your bag at security.
‘Liquids pastes & gels’, which covers all drinks & most toiletries, must be carried in containers of 100ml or less, amount to a total of 1 litre or less, and must fit into a clear, resealable plastic bag of a specific size. Some airports give these out free. Check on the website of the airport you are flying from for details of the rules they apply. In theory, the rules are the same for all airports, but in practice I have had to remove my asthma inhalers from my bag at some airports but not others.
Enjoy your trip!

Loose floaty dresses because it's going to be hot. Pack sun protection in hold luggage. Medication in hand luggage.

Do your relatives have a hairdryer? Save you carrying another.

I always take enough of all my toiletries, but what I use isnt available everywhere.

minidancer · 17/04/2023 20:50

I'd buy all your toiletries over there, the chemists are amazing! Most hotels etc have hairdryers. Take your medication in your hand luggage with a book, sunglasses and wet wipes. I'd pack some comfy walking trainers and a pair of sandals/flip flops for the evenings.
I'd wear wide leg linen trousers with cotton/linen tops and a few maxi dresses. Primark do a nice packable straw hat.
Take some nice Jewelery or buy some bits while you are there. Have a lovely time. You'll find beautiful clothes in Spain so don't worry if you don't take enough

It will be hot so pack enough to have fresh clean clothes each day unless you have access to a washing machine.

If you stay with your relatives I would say see if you can use theirs. Same with hairdryer unless you are very particular about it.

I personally always take toileteries with me, I have a suitcase in the hold so don't worry about sizes.

Medication goes into your handluggage, same with all electronics like your phone and tablet/laptop if you take something like it. You don't need to declare medication but do take it in the orignal packaging with the pharmacy label on it, you can be pulled out for additional checks and it's easier than just having a strip with tablets and no describtion.

You will need travel insurance and you need to disclose your health issues.

Thank you all,

I don't own any dresses Blush
I was thinking about denim shorts for day time and loose t shirts? They have their own swimming pool which will be lovely.

I need a swimsuit that will 'slime-line' me, especially the top of my stomach, belly button up! Below isn't to bad/podgy. If anyone has any suggestion, oh and black is my go to ConfusedBlushGrin

Relatives will be working, so I wouldn't think we'll go out much during the day, nearest big town/city is approx 30miles away,
or at night, however I'm thinking of taking 3/4 smarter tops and some white jeans for the evening just in case?

Will I need a cardigan/ jumper/sweatshirt for the evenings?

Cotton or linen shorts would be more comfortable to wear than denim
ones.

M and S have nice swimming costumes and would choose a colour other than black.

I would take a thin cardigan but you probably wouldn’t need any more than this in the evenings.

Georgyporky · 18/04/2023 19:00

I'd re-think the denim, too thick & hot for Spain in high summer.
Linen is ideal, but creases badly. I favour a linen blend if I wear shorts or trousers, but I agree that floaty dresses are better.
