What accommodation would you book? (Big family holiday)

Big family trip to Disney Land Paris being arranged for next year - multigenerational and different people in different circumstances. My parents are generously paying for us all and the trip will
be for 3-4 nights.

Family members going will be

  • Mum and Dad (Mid 60s)
  • Brother (34) , SIL (42) Nephew (nearly 16) and niece (6)
  • Me and DH (31)
  • Brother (26) and his GF (28)

What accommodation arrangement do you think would mean everyone would have the best time/ least bickering?

Hotel

  • Oldest DB and his family could possibly get a family room but with DNephew being nearly 16 is he possibly too old for that? Should he have his own room?
  • a lot of the rooms have two double beds so it feels like a waste to just have one person in there
  • I don’t think it’s appropriate/conducive to a harmonious holiday for two couples to share a room although there is technically enough space

The Ranch:

  • might be the best option, DH and I would be happy to share a two bedroom lodge with younger DB and his GF
  • They are far away from the parks and you have to drive. Younger DB and GF don’t drive so this could be an issue for them being able to do what they want when they want to do it

Any seasoned Disney goers have any advice?

3 couples in one lodge family in another.

The family might feel 4 of them in one room, is a bit compact and they'll want the 6 yo in bed before the rest of them, which isn't easy to do in a hotel.

Does it have to be a Disney hotel? There are other affiliated options nearby, maybe an Adagio aparthotel or one with interconnecting rooms would suit better?

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/04/2023 08:55

Marriott’s Village d’Ile de France has 2 and 3 bed apartments, is close to the railway station (one stop to DLP) and has a resort shuttle.

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 16/04/2023 08:56

@Sugarfree23 i think the lodges only have two bedrooms and a sofa bed so that wouldn’t really work. I do think the lodges look the best but we would have to drive (we would prefer to get the Eurostar) and younger DB and GF don’t drive so they might feel like they can’t go off on their own ever. It’s tricky!

@WiseUpJanetWeiss ooh that sounds like it could be an option!

@LIZS it doesn’t HAVE to be a Disney hotel although I know my parents don’t like to do things by halves so they probably think especially my niece would want the “full experience”

If you go for a Disney hotel you get the early magic hour before the park officially opens and plenty of shuttle buses or tbh the hotels are all walkable. And you get characters do meet and greets in the lobby.

If you get a meal plan as well it'll be a lot easier than trying to keep everyone together all the time. It'll be expensive though!

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 16/04/2023 09:07

@Tarantella6 i will have a look at meal plans! Tbh we are very lucky and if my parents are offering to pay they will pay for whatever is going to be the best option for everyone to have a nice time - they are “in for a penny in for a pound” type people (well, my dad is 😂)

For 3-4 nights the db and gf can wait for lifts etc. You don’t need to spend a fortune accommodating them for that short amount of time.

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 16/04/2023 09:11

@Schnooze i think that seems mean!

5 rooms in a Disney hotel if the budget would stretch to it. 6 year old in with patients and 16 year old alone.

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 16/04/2023 09:16

@HolidayHappy123 i do think that might be easiest. I like the Marriott that @WiseUpJanetWeiss suggested as well.

There is definitely a need to minimise faff so that everyone has a nice time. It’s a present for my mum I think really because she is missing old family holidays so we don’t want to be bickering!

Les villages nature looks like a compromise - apartments but nearer the parks.

1 bedroom - parents
2 bedroom - me DH, DB and GF
2 bedroom - family - could niece and nephew share a room with twin beds? Is that appropriate?

Les Villages Nature looks lovely, but that’s near Davey Crockett’s isn’t it? That’s further out than the Marriott (not that I’’m shilling for the Marriott but that’s where I intend to stay if/when we go).

Re the 16 year old, if money is no object I’d get him his own room. He won’t want to share with his little sister for 4 nights.
