Anyone bought one recently and loved it?

I’m a big fan of Antler soft sided cases, medium is plenty big enough.

TizerorFizz · 14/04/2023 20:04

We have various ones! Samsonite are very good. Lots to recommend them. Well made. Good linings, useful pockets, locks, sturdy zips etc. Antler - agree on soft sided. We have holdall style ones. M&S are good value.

We have Samsonite and are happy.

I also agree about soft sided.

Another vote for Antler. I searched high and low and finally settled on an Antler one, just used it and loved it. There was a spring sale and a first order voucher code available meaning it was only about £25 more than the ones I was halfhearted about in TK Maxx.

If you've gota frghtening amount of money, the Samsonite ones are amazing. I treated myself and it made a big trip so much easier because it is so light and manoevreable. It was breathtakingly expensive though - nearly £300 for a big one.

Samsonite for me. Hard one

SpecialControlGroup · 14/04/2023 20:32

We just got an American Tourister soundbox which is great

TizerorFizz · 14/04/2023 23:14

Bicester Village have Samsonite reduced. They are not cheap but they are reliable and well made.

minipie · 14/04/2023 23:53

Watching! I like soft bags, have my eye on an Eastpak but will also loom at Antler.

Don’t get plain black!

I like Away cases. We have older samonsite ones but rarely use these now as all prefer the Away ones.

SilentBob · 15/04/2023 00:32

I have an Itluggage. Love it

It really depends on how much you travel, what size you need and what is your budget.

I have a Rimowa carry on and I love it. Had it since 2015 and it is still going strong, I don't think I'll ever need a new one. I refuse to ever check it in tho as I do not want to get it damaged (I do travel light). It is very light being a hard case. My child has a Samsonite carry-on that we do check in if we need to and it does fit more than my Rimowa but the handle is a lot more flimsy. Also had it for a few years now. It's fabric but still very light. Fits a ton. My husband has a Tumi, which had a few repairs but still going strong after 15 years. Heavy tho being that old but he can't bring himself to replace it as there is nothing wrong with it.

I had Delsey in the past but it didn't last long. I have a medium Victorinox hard case to check in and it is very sturdy. American Tourister we had hard and soft large ones that we used for a few moves and found Victorinox hard were better than AT. We did keep the soft one as it is very light and the material seems to e capable to take a lot.

Thanks everyone. Not sure I can justify spending hundreds on a suitcase though. When you say soft sided, do you literally mean fabric suitcases as opposed to the hard shell ones or is a brand..?

Any recommendations for a lower budget?

Soft sided basically means fabric.

The one that I linked is pretty budget. It comes in different sizes if that helps.

That brand, IT, is very reasonably priced and lightweight if (like me) you can't run to the more expensive brands.
