strap them to the roof

hunkermunker · 13/02/2008 10:48

Give the 7yo a Reaponsible Job.

Give both the older ones a list of eye spy things they have to see out of the window of the coach.

Hand the baby to a kindly looking lady.

Drug yourself.

Portable DVD player for 4/7yr old and be prepared for full on ness with the 8mo

discoverlife · 13/02/2008 20:09

I always found totally banning any kinds of sweets, sweeteners, artifical additives etc for 3 or 4 days before a trip works wonders. It seems to calm them down brilliantly.

FAQ · 13/02/2008 20:10

no DS or leapster, don't know anyone with a portable DVD player either and haven't got an MP3 player either

Shall definitely have some books - and lots of snacks (probably things that I shan't mention on MN for fear of being lynched....but will keep them quiet )

I'm kind of liking hunkers idea of drugging myself LOL.

Oh all the above and you could always drug them

FAQ · 13/02/2008 20:11

I don't have a problem with them being calm - it's the being bored I'm worried about LOL.

Cool bag with lots of fruit and crudities instead of chocolates or sweets, keep their blood sugar levels down or they will get fidigty to the nth degree. Be prepared for innumerable trips to the loo if there is one on board, or stopping every 10 minutes for the first hour.

discoverlife · 13/02/2008 20:13

Pack of cards, they will be poker pro's by the end of the trip.

discoverlife · 13/02/2008 20:14

How are you travelling? if we know we can judge what objects etc and the amount of junk you can carry.

FAQ · 13/02/2008 20:14

discover - my DS's seem to be "immune" to the effects of chocolates and sweets - at least it keeps them quiet and stops them fidgeting on long car journeys

Oh god why didn't I pay more money and fly up............

fuckety, fuckety, FUCK!!!!!

Just been browsing the National Express website and the FAQ's and found this

"

Can I take my child's car seat on the coach?

Your Answer

Due to health and safety issues, we are currently unable to allow babies to travel in car seats on our services. As most of our coaches are only fitted with lap belts and not the three-point belts required, we are unable to guarantee child seats will be secure and in accordance with the fitting instructions. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we believe the safety of a child far outweighs any other considerations. We are working with manufacturers to find a solution and we hope you will be able to travel with us very soon."

SHIT! I booked an extra seat for DS3 so that I could put him in his car seat when he wanted to sleep. Surely it's safer to have a child in an (all be it unsecured) car seat than sat on mum's knee???

On foot, car, train, plane, motorbike, helicopter, pushbike? anymore suggestions?

FAQ · 13/02/2008 20:20

ermm - I said in the title - on the coach

OP posts:
discoverlife · 13/02/2008 20:21

X post. Jam the car seat on the floor, leaving the spare seat free for all the junk you will need to carry.

discoverlife · 13/02/2008 20:21

Xpost, blind as a bat me.
