Hi, planning to go abroad in may for some
sunshine. Have two kids under two as well.

any recommendations of where it would be good to go? Not too far, and not expensive but sunny in may?

Turkey and Egypt are good value for money

Jet 2 has some really good deals, I've been looking at beginning of May and found a range of options in Spain and Italy, depending on which board option you take and how long you stay for there's some good prices including flights, transfers and accommodation. Depends how cheap you're looking for, hope you find something!

I am actually thinking of Turkey, but because of the earthquake feel that it’s a bit risky!
not sure if I should take the risk as antalya is not really a earthquake place. But I think my family would be stressed knowing we are going there

Also Greece (Rhodes in particular) but flight time is 4 hrs x

Would it be better to opt in for airbnb than a hotel with two small kids?

I don't have kids so I'm not sure but all the hotels I've looked at seem super kid friendly with kids clubs, entertainment and kiddie pools. Can be nice to have everything on your doorstep, alot of them are advertised as kid/family favourites. I think they even do deals on kids at jet2. I don't normally look at package holidays tbf and normally go the Airbnb route but seems quite expensive these days.

Also turkey earthquake was very far east, v unlikely to happen in the tourist resorts of the west

Thank you so much for your advice

Book an apartment with separate bedroom so you can relax in the living room at night, basic kitchen facilities to have wine and snacks

amylou8 · 26/03/2023 11:55

Turkey or Egypt. I prefer turkey but Egypt is good too. Be prepared, unless you pay for a top hotel, for it to be a bit rough around the edges, but both are great for sunshine on a budget.
The earth quake was miles away from the resorts. It would be like not going to London because there was an earthquake in Rome.

Ah yes this a great point actually, more space in an Airbnb for some you time!

Kardelen · 26/03/2023 12:22

@amylou8 which areas in Turkey do
you recommend?

Thank you for the reassurance about earthquake guys
