Help to find uk weekend near beach

I need to help to work out how to search for the weekend break I'm after, or just some suggestions.

Due to finance and work schedules, we won't be able to have a holiday this year (I say that as if we have them regularly, we don't! Which is why I want to treat the kids this year, last year was a wash out filled with cancer treatments).
So what i wanted to do was take the kids (or one at a time - haven't quite decided) away for a chilled weekend break. They both love the seaside/coast/sea (they're not fussed about amusements etc), and love being somewhere new! I'm trying to find a cool beach hut/glamping experience that's not to expensive and about 150 miles from the west midlands as its only as weekend.
Can anyone recommend website/or actual places?

Some suggestions here, although avoid Rhyl. I can’t believe that’s in the top 10. They must be scoring on the actual sand rather than the town!
Once you’ve narrowed down which beac( area it will be easier to look for a cottage or caravan on a holiday let site such as Sykes, or air BnB even.

Isle of Wight. Avoid Sandown though.

Liverpool has a few beaches accessible by Car, Train or Ferry from the city centre, it also has loads to see and do to interest people of all ages. It has all price ranges of food and accommodation too.

I feel North Wales should fit the bill perfectly as it has busy or quiet beaches and all the food and things to do.
Just one location idea

If its you or your DH that had cancer treatments then the charity SomethingToLookForwardTo provides breaks for families on their website. We were given a week on the Cornish Coast in July last year by them. We were also given a 1 night stay on Welsh border at YeOldeFerrieInn via them and then went onto Pembrokeshire coast and puffin boat trips from Skomer.

Norfolk too far (Wells-next-the-sea)?

Oncewassmith · 15/03/2023 07:12

Brilliant ideas and suggestions, thank you all so much. I do love Wales and I have never stayed in Norfolk (visited for the day), so definitely will have a look there. The pods look lovely a Cromer.
And @silkierabbit I have had cancer treatment (more times than I would have liked) so I will have a look at that charity - I'm still struggling after the last time, so I want to treat the kids as much as possible as they've had to put up with so much.
Thank you all for the suggestions- I'm off now into a google/daydreaming rabbit hole

Manybeards · 15/03/2023 07:25

North Wales, Anglesey, Abersoch, somewhere like that

Nitgel · 15/03/2023 07:27

Isle of wight is lovely so many beaches

Fistral view self catering apartments

Isle of Wight is probably further than 150 miles and you have the added expense of the ferry.

North Wales is a good bet.

Tenby in Pembrokeshire is gorgeous. More like 190 miles but would suit you perfectly. Some accommodation suggestions here.

The beaches near here are amazing, especially Brancaster beach which stretches for miles.

Sorry to hear it was you having lots of cancer treatment. This is a link to cancer charity that gives free holidays, you click to apply dates are what is stated and you just upload some proof from hospital treated currently or within last year. somethingtolookforwardto.org.uk/gifts/?category=Main+Gifts These are the main gifts atm. There also can be some in their additional and extra gifts pages for usually 1 night, main varies and is often for 2, 4 or 7 nights.
