Memphis in November?

I have a big birthday the end of November next year and was thinking of doing an Atlanta - Nashville - Memphis road trip.

Will it be too cold to do anything meaningful? Wondering if this is an error.

It’s hard to predict what the weather will be like, but I imagine it will be relatively nice during the day & jacket weather at night.

I did a similar trip ant the end of October a few years back & the weather was lovely. I flew into Atlanta & went to Smoky mountains, Nashville, Memphis & New Orleans.

It was a wonderful trip & I think about it often. You should definitely go!

I live nearby and it will most likely be bitterly cold! We've had occasional years when the weather has been unexpectedly warm but they are VERY occasional!
It's unlikely to snow, although I've seen snow in Atlanta just after Thanksgiving, but I often go to a kid's sporting event In Memphis at the beginning of December and being outside is just miserable. We sit wrapped up in sleeping bags and blankets and run back to our cars at the first opportunity. Sorry to be a downer, but it's best you know what to expect if you plan on coming.

We went in November 2019 and it was -4 at night! during the day wasn't to bad still chilly but the nights were bitter.

My advice is take thermal layers, hats and gloves.

@BackToWhereItAllBegan have you lived there long? I only ask because I spent some time in those areas in the winter and I certainly wouldn't call it miserable (compared to the UK) and average temperatures on google appear to be mid-late teens in C so I just wonder if you expectations are a little higher because you're from the US or just acclimatised now Grin

I mean it's not warm obviously, but it's closer to our spring than it is our winter.

@highstep I've lived in Tennessee for decades now, my DS has soccer tournaments in Memphis and Atlanta at the end of November and beginning of December and it's nearly always miserable to be outside all day.
We may get lucky and have the odd nice few days around then but in general I wouldn't plan a vacation to Tennessee in the winter. Best time weather wise would be April / May then September / early October.
Atlanta and Nashville are fabulous places to visit, I don't love Memphis, I just think you'd miss out on the best of everything by coming at that time of year.

@BackToWhereItAllBegan I just expect your expectations are very different to ours, with how hot your summers are I can see how November seems miserable but compared to our own weather it's probably closer to "pleasant" for us 😂

Thank you all, think this will be shelved for summer one year! (I'm very sad because I really want to do it)
