We are flying to south africa soon (by air france with a change in paris)with our 2yo dd and 7mo ds. What is the situation regarding bringing food for them onto the plane? does food come under the same scrutiny as liquids? Has anyone experienced any difficulty recently?

We flew to LA and it was fine. We had to leave it on the plane as they get sniffy (literally) about it at customs, but that's californians for you.

Load os difficulties. It is ridiculous. Also it's hard to find out the rules when you change e.g US to Central America last month even if you think you know the rules from UK to US.

The BAA web site has a lot of stuff about food. I believe you can take foot from the UK as long as it is not liquid food. They use the example of curry - not allowed. Whereas I haev been able to take cold chicken no sauce. Then separately there are the rules about foot and mouth so you have to eat it all before you reach customs on the other side.

Then all the fuss over liquids brought from home not being over 100ml. It's completely unnecessary set of rules designed to make people feel terrorised.

thanks for advice, will check out the website. I just had visions of having to 'taste' every jar of food to make sure i'd not put poison in it before boarding the plane!
