California for honeymoon?

Thinking of going to California for our honeymoon- we are getting married in New York. Would like to see a couple of the major cities. I fancy LA but DP doesn't.
Any suggestions or tips? No idea where to start.

California is a great state, with many places worth going to. Sadly LA is not one of them. It's dirty, it's crimes ridden, gangs, It's just awful.
SF or San Diego, or road trip from ine to the other.

Were there gangs at the Getty Centre? Or the Getty Villa at Malibu? Or marauding Mulholland Drive? Or perhaps they were in the LAC museum of art? That dirty crime ridden art gallery? Nowhere is crime free and everywhere has its rough edges. Just don’t go there!

Probably not, but I'm.giving my opinion of LA based on my experiences.
I spent 6 months living in Southern cali, and visited some truly fab places, only place I didn't like was LA.

You probably didn’t bother to see the best of LA then - a bit of a shame. Not that other places are not great but some mentioned on this thread are also a bit shabby!
