Has anybody done a Disney Cruise? We are considering, we've never booked a cruise before. Just looking for thoughts, opinions and tips!

I haven't, but my cousin did earlier this year and absolutely loved it. They are huge Disney fans anyway, but thought it was amazing.

We did a 3 night one from Florida combined with 2 weeks in Disney. Was amazing. We did an excursion but I wouldn’t bother if I went again - loads to do on the ship.

We went on a Mediterranean one, 5 nights from Barcelona, about 8 years ago. It was the only cruise I've ever been on so nothing to compare too, but we really liked it. The cabin we had was pretty small, but we didn't spend much time in it. The restaurants were excellent and they did rotational dining so you had a different one each evening. The waiting staff moved with you so got to know you which was great. The service on the whole was brilliant. Good shows, decent kids clubs and lots of opportunities to meet characters with little queueing. Soft drinks were all included, alcohol was expensive. You pay tips at the end of your stay so be sure to factor that in. Didn't do any excursions but there was a free coach to take you into the nearest town which we used once and was a nice way to get off the shop for a few hours.

Thanks everyone, what are the tips for? Meals? Do they just calculate a percentage of the number of meals you had?

I'm really hoping the Dream is still in Europe, that ship looks amazing.

We tipped the housekeeper who cleaned the room and then the three servers who we had, which were the same each day. They recommend a certain amount per person per day and that's what we payed. There is a calculator here: disneycruiselineblog.com/cruise-planning/tip-calculator/

Were planning a Disney cruise next summer as well, most likely the Fantasy eastern Caribbean.

Just waiting for the itinerary to be released but so excited. There are lots of useful videos and vlogs on YouTube that covers the key tips and topics you need.

I found this video very useful as a guide for tipping.

To mask the actual cost of the cruise and trh fact that the staff are paid a pittance.

So say you pay £500pp up front... It looks better than £600 per person or whatever.

Tips aren't compulsory, you can ask to have them removed at the end.

We done the Staycation during covid and really enjoyed it. Your tips are automatically charged but you can add more if you feel it is necessary. The only additional cost we had was alcoholic drinks and what we bought in the shops. There is the bibbity bobbity boutique which is extra or princess dining alsong with other add ons such as wine tasting. There’s soo much to do on the ship we were never bored. Our kids loved the kids club too which was nice as we could spend some time in the adults only area. The theming at dining is great too and the show was fantastic. There is a Disney cruise group on fb which is good for tips. I’m looking at doing a Europe cruise next year, I’m not the biggest fan of cruising but Disney cruises in my opinion are worth it.
