Talk me through finding an all-inclusive

Hoping to get away in Sept time. DC1 will be almost 3 and DC2 will be about 5m by then (hasn't arrived yet). I haven't been abroad since Dec 2019 and my usual holiday style is 9kg backpack and travel, few days here and there with just DH and a Lonely Planet. Obviously not practical with young children! So, for the first time I'm considering an all-inclusive 'dump yourself in one place' kind of holiday (the kind I always swore I'd never do).

Where do I start looking? How do you find and choose an all-inclusive? And when taking young children - what do you do about car seats for transfers etc? Any recommendations?

All of the dumb questions, assume I know nothing (I don't).

TIA

@Margo34

The food at ai's tends to be formulaic. Breakfasts are very predictable especially, though will usually include the local breakfast as well as international staples. I choose hotel's with multiple restaurants included in the price normally. Also consider b&b instead especially places like Greece or Italy where children are welcomed in restaurants (Spain is an issue as they eat so late)

This is not the case at all with Ikos . There are 6/ 7 separate a la carte restaurants on site !
You can eat all your meals in different places !
They even cover a ‘dine out’ option locally !

Have a look at Ikos . Total luxury and great for young kids like yours ! Greece and Spain .
Amazing hotels . I think you need to go top notch when doing all inclusive.

Just tried to use their website - it's terrible! So hard to actually book anything.

Looks lovely though.

Really ? I’m always on the website and I find it very easy to use , find prices etc .
What issues are you having ?
it’s also beautifully laid out and very clear .

Its always worth checking reviews for AI food and exactly what it covers. We have always had local food available and local food is normally one of the best options at them. Whether it includes lots of different restaurants with waiter service varies partly on cost. A typical TUI one will have half your meals in self service and other half waiter service in smaller restaurants for evening meals. But have been at one where it was waiter service every meal if you wanted. I've always had good food at them especially the meals they prepare in front of you and local cuisine but its not Michelin type food and it tends to be relaxed with kids running round at times. We often just have breakfast, drinks and evening meal and go out in day or do activities in day, often day on at say on site waterpark / sea / swimming pool, day off exploring rainforest or whatever by. Same with the apart hotels.

Cheaper than Ikos, but mind blowing food and multiple restaurants Lara Barut in Antalya, Turkey

There are other Lara hotels I've read good things about.
