Exchanging money in marrakesh

Hi.
Can anyone help with some advice?

Going to Marrakesh in a couple weeks. The Riad plus tourist tax is €700 and to be paid on arrival.

I've asked them if they want paid in actual cash euros or in moroccan dirhams.

If I've to pay in dirhams then I'll need to exchange money at the airport, which isnt the best rate.

Will the airport exchanges accept pounds sterling in cash or do I need to use my card? I wanted to avoid my card to avoid the fee from Halifax. Anyone been and can help?

I ordered euros and had them delivered today as I couldnt get time away from work to go and get them.
They have sent me the old series one euros! Not the newer notes. The riad said no card machine and payment in euros was great so this was meant to pay for that but I've got the old notes. They're still in circulation but I'm guessing Marrakesh people will want the new ones. So this is a pain to sort out with less than a week to go!
