Would love suggestions please for a UK holiday destination that would keep everyone in the family happy. I have an 18 year old DD who loves cities, history, museums and music, a 15 year old DD who loves shopping and theme parks, a 7 year old DD who, like me, is happy doing pretty much anything and a DH who likes walking and swimming.
We live in the Lake District and would be happy to drive maybe 4/5 hours from home, we have been to North Wales several times, Somerset and Scarborough so looking for somewhere different if anyone has any recommendations?

What about Northumberland? Around Alnwick?
Lovely castles etc, huge beaches.

Northumberland is a good shout,.

How about Edinburgh? Lots of history and museums, shopping and some walking easily done, It's fairly near to beaches for swimming.

Or basing yourselves somewhere near Sheffield way for the peak district? Again, walking, Eyam plague village, Chatsworth, shopping, Alton Towers.

Oxford could be another base, but the walking is less dramatic. Blenheim palace, Bletchly Park are nearby, Chessington a bit of a drive.

Isle of Wight.

It really is a great location for a family holiday. Island is small enough that the 18 can go off and explore where they like. Osbourne House might interest them.

No cities as such but a couple of big town for them.

Walking and sigh seeing for the others, beeches and other seaside stuff too.

London! Maybe give each family member a day when they get to say what happens. Maybe stay near Hampstead Heath so that your dh can enjoy a gorgeous walk taking in Parliament Hill etc, or in East London and choose to walk the Thames path (the walk from the Thames Barrier back towards Tower Bridge is awesome and full of history/museums, eg Cutty Sark and the naval hospital. Obviously shopping and museums a go go - maybe Liberty's and Selfridges?

Cardiff area;fabulous castles especially Castell coch,st.fagans living history museum (you'd need a full day for that) and the national museum.

The last two are free entry.

Northumberland is amazing could stay 1 night in Newcastle to satisfy city/shopping loving teen. Northumberland is huge but Alnwick castle/gardens, Bamburgh or Kielder are worth visiting.
Edinburgh is a gorgeous city with lots to do and can easily access country side.

North Wales is great for scenery, walks, and around the Llyn peninsula great beaches eg Abersoch. There are zip wire places for something a bit more extreme. Conwy is nice. Not much city-related for your DD though I appreciate. Just an idea!

Or you could stay in Northumberland which is utterly beautiful. And visit Edinburgh from that base for a day? Loads of shopping culture and sights there. Could visit there by train I’d imagine, from Northumberland
