Ibiza for middle aged couple?

Looking for recommendations for where to stay in Ibiza away from the party areas please. We’re a 50 & 60 yr old couple. Only going for a 4 night short break so would prefer a short transfer, nice beaches, plenty of restaurants.
thanks!

I’m referring to which area, rather than specific hotels btw and we won’t have a car

Santa Eulalia is lovely and a lot of the hotels there don't allow children to stay so they're aimed couples rather than families. I used to go there pre-kids and loved it. Really nice Marina with lots of restaurants, close to the beach etc

Sarahconnor1 · 17/02/2023 09:33

Santa Eulalia

Seconded

WeFollowRivers · 17/02/2023 09:52

Or Cala Llonga, you can catch a boat round to Santa Eulalia, Cala Llonga is a small bay & as a result quieter, however Amante beach club is a little walk up the hill and takes some beating

AndCallMeNancy · 17/02/2023 13:32

Portinatx is a small, non-clubby resort but it’s in the north of the island so might be further from the airport than you want. The beaches are lovely though and there’s plenty of bars and restaurants. There’s a bus you can take to visit other places, we enjoyed a day trip to Ibiza old town and I’d reccomend a sunset boat trip from there too.

Is San Antonio bay a nightmare? Hotels look lovely and are cheap! Thanks

AceofPentacles · 17/02/2023 17:17

Steer clear of San Antonio. You could try Talamanca which is on the outskirts of Ibiza town or Cala basa/comte but the latter is a bit out of the way for shops etc.

Oblomov23 · 17/02/2023 17:28

Go SE to to Santa Eulalia, Cala Llongo, Cala Llenya, Es Cana. All lovely. My most favourite 4 places.

PotDoll · 17/02/2023 19:49

Thanks again. Is there a eulalia and a eularia?

OP posts:
Oblomov23 · 17/02/2023 19:51

Same place. Gets spelled a number of different ways, weirdly.

CaptainMyCaptain · 17/02/2023 19:53

Cala Llonga was lovely. A very quiet family resort.

whizzpopping · 17/02/2023 19:56

Hotel Riomar in Santa Eularia was very nice and there was a mix of young folks, families, middle aged couples, friend groups etc

We went to Ibiza last year, our first trip to the island. We stayed in Santa Eulalia, and I would highly recommend it for people whose clubbing days are over. It’s a proper Balearic town, not just a resort, with bars & restaurants used by locals as well as tourists, and an excellent Mercadona supermarket.
If you decide to take the ferry boat around the island to Ibiza Town, Es Cana or Cala Llonga, make sure you pack your sea legs! 🤢

Annexlife · 17/02/2023 21:45

For restaurants, beautiful marina, lovely promenade to walk in the evening, Santa Eulalia is your friend, with as people have mentioned, the ferry option down coast to Cala Llonga for the beach. 20 minutes by taxi transfer from the airport. Cala Llonga has a beautiful beach but doesn't have the choice of evening restaurants or hotels and without a car is limited. If you do go and want a special meal, Amante, as another poster mentioned, is pretty special but you need to book in advance, ideally a few months. If you can a night in Ibiza town with a walk and an ice cream (and wine) in the old town is beautiful.

I've got to 63 and never got to Ibiza yet, so I'm place marking on this thread to keep my dream alive! Grin

CaptainMyCaptain · 17/02/2023 21:55

We didn’t have a car when we stayed in Cala Llonga but there is a good bus service.

20DigitCombination · 18/02/2023 09:12

We stayed in Figueretes which is walking distance from Ibiza town and a short drive from the airport.

ZenNudist · 18/02/2023 09:18

All sounds lovely

Cala Llonga has a gorgeous beach. Not sure what the restaurants are like as we stayed all inclusive. Not many shops there just a few of the tourist type ones. There is some nice places to go walking though and if you walk across the beach you'll come to a bus stop. There you can catch the land train and the guy takes you to various places and tells you the history or other things about them. You can also get the bus to Ibiza old town which is only around a 15-20 min ride away but definitely well worth going too. At the other end of the beach is a Jetty where you can get the water taxi to the hippy market (can't remember hat town that is in) think it also takes you to the old town as well. Santa Eulalia is also lovely and just a short bus ride up from Cala Llonga. There's more choice of shops there and a lovely seafront and marina to walk along. The hotels also looked lovely as well. I'd definitely recommend the hotel we stayed in cos it was lovely but sadly I think its now closed due to Covid. It's a shame really cos it was literally smack bang on the beach.

PotDoll · 18/02/2023 13:07

Thanks you everyone! I’ve booked in Santa Eulalia 😊can’t wait. Thanks for all of the tips. The restaurant mentioned appears to have closed down. ice cream and wine in Ibiza town sounds lovely, grateful for any more tips. It’s only a short break so want to cram loads in.

@thenightsky do it! I’ve only paid £60 return for the flight in May!

That's great OP. Amante hasn't shut down, it's just closed for the winter. I think they are taking bookings from March. Kathmandu is a great option for a curry in Santa Eulalia (weird to suggest in Spain but it's been there years, is open year round and always busy). If you do want to adventure to Cala Llonga for a beach day there are 2 beach bars, the one in the middle does food. There are no public toilets but you can get a key from either beach bar. There are showers. For meat eaters, a short taxi from Santa Eulalia is Cas Pages. It's a meat eaters dream. Everyone on the island knows it. They don't take bookings and are strictly cash only. For a very traditional Ibiza meal, it's worth the taxi drive.
FYI Santa Eulalia....the two different spellings are because names changed to their Catalan spelling many years ago as the island reintroduced Catalan as opposed to Castellano, part of Spain's decentralisation and pro regional efforts. You'll see this across the island.

Was it El Pinar (or something like that)? We stayed there and it was great. You could take your all inclusive drinks down to the beach .

PotDoll · 18/02/2023 14:37

Thanks @Annexlife I’ll definitely visit cala llonga, thanks for the tip and for the restaurants. I often have a curry on holiday, the food can get a bit samey x

I've been to Ibiza loads and Santa Eulalia is lovely, it has a "restaurant street" with loads of different food options.
San Antonio bay isn't too bad (it's San Antonio town where all the bars and clubs are) but the quality of the restaurants is definitely better in Santa Eulalia. It's an easy island to get round so wherever you go should be a short transfer time, there's also a ferry from Santa Eulalia that goes to all the different places on the island.
