How to find a campsite! U.K.

Can anyone recommend a campsite, or a website that lists them please? We are thinking of camping this summer for a few days in the south west - anywhere in Cornwall, Devon Dorset etc. but I don't know where to start looking for a good campsite!
We've realised we have all the gear, so may as well use it!
We want something with a decent fun pool for the children, but not too big a site that it feels like Butlins!
Can anyone help me in where to look?

Pitchup or the camping and caravaning club. For the CCC you don't have to be a member.

Pitch up is the best for filtering down to your specific requirements and it covers pretty much everywhere really well. But it’s not great for browsing and inspiration- cool camping is quite a nice one for that.

Thank you both! I will take a look at those sites in a bit. Completely forgot about the CCC!

Ukcampsite.co.uk you can search by area, has reviews etc

in terms of a specific site we loved Pentewan Sands in Cornwall, has a pool and also its own beach :)

Ask for recommendations! That's how I choose 😊

River Dart in Devon is fab if you're an outdoorsy family. We love it there!

There are some good facebook pages, like "cheap campsites in the U.K and Ireland"

My favourite in Cornwall is Tregarten park. It has a lovely outdoor pool and bar area and is a 5 min drive to Porth Luney beach wihich is stunning. You can park right up to the beach if you get there early. The food from the site takeaway was really high quality and great value.

Dorset - Highlands End is great and has an indoor pool and a steep walk down to the beautiful pebble beach but be careful with the cliff top pitches as we had to pack up half way through our two week trip due to a storm that left almost all tents ruined. I would go back but I'd have a pitch well away from the cliff.

Not sure if Wales is your thing but Three Cliffs Bay in the Gower is absolutely wonderful but does not have a pool.

Search for Sites app is £5 pa and worth every penny. It's a zoomable map view of practically every site and stopover in the UK with facilities, reviews and links. I never use anything else.
It doesn't list all the amenity-filled sites that are mainly static caravans though if that's what you are after.

Have a look at Polmanter in St Ives. It is beautiful.

Hendra in Cornwall is great.

Google Maps can be quite helpful, if you zoom in on an area and enter "Campsite" into the search bar- they should all pop up. No point in giving you my favourites down here, as my preferences are more "field with a firepit and a compost loo".

There is a camping forum on here. I've had some great recommendations

I was going to recommend UKcampsite as well. It's fairly old fashioned looking just like MN then but if you use the filters to find what you want abs then read a lot of reviews you usually can't go wrong.

I can second Tregarton Park as well. There a pool but no clubhouse, which is a rare combination but means it's quieter than some of the bigger parks.

I just posted this somewhere else but thought this might help.

I created this clickable map which has campsites by region in the UK to help people with suggestions. It's still a work in progress and any feedback is welcome!
