My husband and i are taking our four-month-old to New Zealand next week and wondering what to do with the pushchair. I have heard that you can take Bugaboos to the gate which would be great as i am travelling back from NZ with my baby alone...But Air New Zealand seemed to think i could only take an umbrella-style buggy as far as the gate. ANy advice welcome...also any tips on baby jetlag? I have heard horror stories...cheers

Haven't read the whole thread but we used to travel with our Bugaboo. We checked it in with our other baggage though and used a baby sling from the check in to the plane. It keeps your hands free and you can negotiate steps easily, you also take it on board with you and can use it at the other end. The only interesting aspect is trying to go to the loo - especially when travelling on your own. It is possible though!!

BTW the should not charge you for buggies or car seats!

Travelling with Bugaboo Frog for my 12 week old, borrowing the transport bag from a friend but does anyone know if the actual 'Pram' bit fits in the bag when taken apart obviously, baby not old enough for the pushchair part yet ??? Many thanks ... also bottle feeding and not sure of the best way of sorting out the bottles for the day (with regards getting the cooled boiled water through security) - thinking we may have to fill them up 'Duty Free' side ?

Please reconsider....they don't treat buggies very well when they load them & my umbrella fold buggy got quite damaged between the UK & Australia. They just tend to throw them on the plane & throw them off again.

Just to add to spoo's comment. Some airlines see buggys/car seats as extra baggage, it it easier to call the airline direct & ask what their policy is, wrt these things.
