Going to Lille - what can I bring back on Eurostar (without paying Customs duties)?

Hi.
We're off to Lille via Eurostar for a few days over half-term.
Now that we're not part of Europe, is there a limit to what we can bring back on Eurostar?
Thanks.

Isn’t there any information on their website?

timetogoawa · 07/02/2023 20:20

Will look again. Thanks.

Pretty much anything! Not sure you’ll be able to carry the quantities of alcohol back you’re permitted. High value items might differ, but you can claim the tax back. What are you thinking of bringing back? Lots of info on the gov and Eurostar website.

Thanks Jacult. Not really a drinker so not buying much wine - more like Petit Marsellaise shower gel, flour for making crepes, not sure what else.

Pretty sure you won't be able to worry enough to make the limit. Very roughly you can bring back things for personal use/consumption

Yes!
Usually fly to Nice, so Carrefour here we come!

Their website says you have to use their £30 luggage service if you want to carry more than a bottle of wine each and a few beers. No spirits on board. Assuming you want to do that, it's 4 litres of spirits and 9 of wine.

Hobbi · 07/02/2023 20:46

Sorry - just seen you're not a drinker!

Definitely! We stock up the car with mayonnaise, refillable hand soap and shower gel, deli items, everything! As long as you can fit it in your luggage you’ll be fine!! Love a French supermarket trip - we go about 6 times a year!!

Also, Doves Farm buckwheat flour is brilliant for making galletes and you can get it in supermarkets over here!

It's all here;

Alcohol allowance
beer - 42 litres
wine (still) - 18 litres
You can also bring in either:
spirits and other liquors over 22% alcohol - 4 litres
sparkling wine, fortified wine (for example port, sherry) and other alcoholic drinks up to 22% alcohol (not including beer or still wine) - 9 litres
You can split this last allowance, for example you could bring 4.5 litres of fortified wine and 2 litres of spirits (both half of your allowance).

Tobacco allowance
You can bring in one from the following:
200 cigarettes
100 cigarillos
50 cigars
250g tobacco
200 sticks of tobacco for electronic heated tobacco devices
You can split this allowance - so you could bring in 100 cigarettes and 25 cigars (both half of your allowance).

Allowance for other goods
You can bring in other goods worth up to £390 (or up to £270 if you arrive by private plane or boat).

Be careful with meat and dairy, you can't bring them back post Brexit

Not relevant to the OP as she doesn't drink, but I don't think this is true for anyone else either?

I thought you were allowed to bring up to a bottle of wine on board to Drink, but the rest needs to be not for drinking? (Unless it's a ski train).

I took that from here:

www.eurostar.com/uk-en/travel-info/travel-planning/luggage/prohibited-items

It gives them the right to confiscate it if you are behaving antisocially but I have brought loads of alcohol back without issue before.

This literally says you can bring them back for personal use, from the whole of the EU?

The only restriction is no more than 2kg of pork products (presumably per person), and not commercially packaged. You can't bring it back to sell on...

Yes you can https://www.gov.uk/bringing-food-into-great-britain/meat-dairy-fish-animal-products

You can't bring in meat or dairy from outside Europe.
