First week May Turkey or Egypt

Hi new to this. But often reading great advice and comments. Looking at booking holiday and looking at the first week of May. Concerned Turkey (Icmler) will be too cool for little one (5) to swim in sea. Looking wondering if anyone has been to Egypt first week of May? What the weather was like? And any recommendations on resorts would be gratefully received too. Thanks

One other question to ask has every been to see the Pyramids in Egypt? Would you recommend bringing a five year old on the journey. He’s constantly asking can we go but not sure how long bus journeys would take and would he actually be interested once there.
thanks again

The pyramids are just outside Cairo so it would depend where you’re staying in Egypt as to whether or not it would be feasible.
If you’re staying in Sharm then you’re on the Sinai Peninsula so you’d need visas to leave (approx $25 per person. You need to purchase them in the arrivals hall at the airport prior to collecting your luggage)
It’s a 5 and a half hour + journey by road from Sharm to Cairo but there’s also the option of a flight (you could book prior to leaving the U.K. or pay for a trip once you’re there with your Travel company)
The journey from Cairo out to the pyramids isn’t long. It’s a real culture shock when you get there though. The buses are targeted by camel owners and horse owners who want you to pay to ride their horse/camel down to the pyramids from the coach park. There’s also bunches of kids trying to sell stuff and watch out for pick pockets as they are rife.
You will get hassled and hassled but don’t let it put you off. If you’re insistent then they will eventually leave you alone 🤣
We've travelled extensively with our child since he was a newborn but I personally wouldn’t take a 5 year old. I think it’s probably a bit too much unless you actually stay in Cairo for a few days and do a trip out from there. Cairo is an amazing city. The museum is awesome and he would love that.
