Best pre teem things in Barcelona

Ds and I are planning a trip to Barcelona. He is in year 7, doing Spanish for first time and I thought it 6 be fun. I love Madrid myself but he wanted to go to Barcelona because its near the sea!

What should I be prioritising for an 11 year old? He would love Reina Sofia in Madrid so similar vibe in Barcelona would be good. He's creative and insightful, but not academic. Loves new food and interesting physical experiences (eg city parkour or skating or pick up games of football or basketball). Not interested in history as such but interested in people and their lives. Locally recently we have had great trips to planetarium, beach, London South Bank, Disney on ice and a football match.

Any tips gratefully received.

Stadium tour of the Nou Camp if he's into football.

Nou Camp sounds ideal - you can do a tour, or you can get tickets for a match (or both)

Sagrada Familia really is interesting - worth booking a tour so the guide can point everything out and tell you all the stories.

The beach of course

There is a really good on / off bus tour with loads and loads of buses (at least there was pre-covid) so if you get off at one 'attraction' and it doesn't capture the interest, you don't have to wait an hour or more for the next bus - you can just move on to the next one.

Also you can go up to the Olympic park, we went on a bus but IIRC there is a cable car (it was a long time ago).

The cable car over the harbour. The aquarium. The zoo. The funky roof tops on the Gaudi buildings. Parc Guell. Picasso Museum. The musical fountain. www.boscdelesfades.com/en/esten-experiencia/ This cafe.

Thanks all. I'm going to do some proper research this week and possibly book it. It will be amazing.

We did a tour of camp Nou, also bought the boys football kits.
The Gaudi place is lovely, they enjoyed that and Sagrada Familia

Just one thing if he's learning Spanish and wants to practice, the first language is Catalan not Spanish, it can be a bit confusing (I speak a bit of French and a bit of Spanish and Catalan seems to be a bit of a mix of the two to me). It's not a problem at all and Spanish and English are widely spoken too but things like menus tend to be in Catalan. Also if you have a choice of dates try to avoid any weekend when Barca are playing Real Madrid if you want to do anything football related. I've been twice and the first time (pre-kids) it was one of those weekends and the atmosphere in bars and on the streets was shall we say quite lively.
