Short break in Rotterdam with young teens (ish)

We live about an hour from Hull docks, and in the past I have had weekends in the Netherlands on the Hull-Rotterdam ferry. I've always cycled away from Rotterdam.

I'm thinking of taking the dc for a short break at half term. No way on earth would they be up for cycling! Would 2-3 days in Rotterdam entertain a grumoy 11 yo dd and 14 yo DS. DS can find interest in most things, especially history. DD is reluctant to engage with anything, but loves boat tips.

I don't have children... but I'd say, yes. It's a great city with a real buzz to it. Spido do boat tours of the harbour area and there's also the Waterbus which you can take down to Dordrecht, which is both a lovely trip in itself and an interesting and picturesque destination (oldest city in the country). If your DS is at all interested in WWII, there's the '40-'45 Museum in Rotterdam, which is separate from but also associated with the main city museum - very friendly staff, not that large but packed with info (much in English). I'd also recommend going up the Euromast. Cube houses also look good. It'd probably be worth it for you to get Rotterdam Welcome Cards, as these give significant discounts on most attractions and also public transport (available online, from tourist information offices at the central station and the Visitor Centre on Coolsingel, which itself has a Discovery exhibition in its basement).
Have a great time. I was there in September and really enjoyed it.

PS There's also a Tourist Day Ticket (available from same locations), which gives unlimited travel on public transport, though not national trains, throughout the province of Zuid/South Holland. Useful as it can be used on the Waterbus and RET (Rotterdam transport network).

Thank you @TreesAtSea !!

In that case, he may be interested in the sculpture outside the Maritime Museum on Blaak, called De Verwoeste Stad (The Ruined City), which commemorates the wartime bombing of the city.
St Laurence's church also has a WWII link in that it was one of the very few buildings that survived the bombing. Inside is a stained glass window in memory of Rotterdam's war, and a cross gifted by Coventry Cathedral.
I could go on...

SS Rotterdam for a cruise ship visit. The Markthal is fabulous. Drinks/food in the Oude Haven. We stayed at the Ibis near there in December.

This is all brilliant, thank you.

Will get to planning something in skeleton, and think about possible trips from R'dam to other cities.
