Milan in March

StrawberryFizz27 · 22/01/2023 18:22

DP & I are going to Milan in March for 4 nights. It's a covid delayed 40th trip, which means the only thing on the itinerary at the moment is a game at the San Siro stadium.

I think from researching, we'll do a day trip to Lake Como maybe & was looking for some more ideas & inspiration.

Thank you.

There is a lovely spa. If you go around 5-6 there is a nice array of snacks included in the price of entry.
go inside the Duomo and look around. You can also pay to get onto the roof, that is amazing!
Sit in one of the coffee shops in the shopping center near the Duomo and people watch.

Do a cooking afternoon? We did one in someone’s flat. It was so fun. With other people and then ate the food we had made. Found it on Airbnb

Thanks @Swimswam , I've just been looking at a cooking afternoon on TripAdvisor & maybe hiring a bike.

  • Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele;
  • Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper (although it is really faded);
  • Pinacoteca di Brera and Castello Sforzesco is you like art museums;
  • Navigli district (near Porta Ticinese) for eating and drinking, although there are loads of good bars and restaurants in Milan, so maybe ask for recommendations locally;
  • Brera district for wandering, shopping, eating;
  • It will probably be chilly, so take some warm clothes.

Going in July with my 12 year old DD. 3 nights Milan (with a gig at San Siro) and one in Bellano on Lake Como.

She’s too young for the spa or the Segway tours so looking at the cooking classes. Will do the duomo roof, Starbucks and Da Vinci museum. That’s as far as I’ve got.

watched Travel Man episode in Milan last night and there’s a tiny cocktail bar that looks like fun. Going to presume DD is too young for that as well.

I'll check out that episode #@OnceAgainWithFeeling we're defo up for a cocktail or 2.

Where are you staying?

Think you have to book in advance if you want to see The Last Supper

This is a brilliant list!

An Airbnb near Cenisio stop on the metro - easy for the stadium and train station.

StrawberryFizz27 · 22/01/2023 22:21

We're staying in an air bnb near Rho Fiera, also close to the station & stadium!

Have a fab trip.

Definitely worth booking ahead for the Last Supper. Agree with the roof of Duomo (health and safety not so much of a thing ...?) but also remember an amazing ice cream shop near Duomo that was just incredible. Think being able to choose the type of chocolate for them to melt in the bottom of the cone, topped off with delicious ice cream, sauces, nuts, toppings. About a month's calories and worth every one.

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 22/01/2023 22:29

You too! Let me know of any highlights!

Is it Venchi? There are a couple in London.

Would suggest you book in advance of your travel a guide to show you around the Duomo. They can use the lift to the rooftops rather than the hundreds of stairs but you descend by stairs .

San Siro also offer English speaking tours of the stadium on non football or events days.

Joe Cipolla is a nice restaurant in the Navigli are.
