Really want to try a cruise with teen dd with asd. Needs to be short as a test, and from Liverpool as can stay with family before.

I looked at Fred olsen and seemed perfect but it was just double cabins. Obvs I'll keep looking but does anyone know if there are any I should be looking at?

Many thanks

Where would DD like to go, see, do?
Having done 14 cruises all with the kids I feel you would be better doing a taster in the Med, better weather, smoother sailing, more choice.
Most other cruise operators have kids clubs ( they don't have to go) and 4 berth cabins.
Personally I would start with Holland America or Royal Caribbean, Celebrity are great but expensive, P&O well its just a grubby Butlins at sea in comparison to the others. Look at whats on the ship, many have quiet areas as well as stuff going on so you can choose to be busy or quiet, look at ports and activities both on and off the ship.
Fred Olsen mainly caters for OAP's and I have yet to see any ports it goes to that are real show stoppers.
Cruise critic forum is good for advice. The only problem is once you have been on a good one nothing else compares!

I've checked out those you named, look promising! And thank you for the sign posting to cruise critic I'm finding it very helpful. 👍

I've tried a few firms and most are ok, some less flashy but I had no issues. Not many leave from Liverpool though, that's your constraint. I would avoid FO though as it's very old people!

I tend to use an agent who is knowledgeable

Having cruised for years with family I wouldn’t take a teenage on Fred Olsen.
Royal Caribbean is a good choice. We always book direct with them. The larger ships have a lot more to do for teenagers- games rooms, flow rider, skydive thing, climbing wall , ice rink, cinema, dodgems, hang out place etc.
Many cabins sleep 4 . When you book direct you select your cabin so you can look at the deck plan and choose what’s best. Cruise critic has reviews of pretty much every individual cabin. Many of the cabins have a privacy curtain to section off the 2 bed areas a night.

Cruise critic is a great place to research or ask on here.
Have a look at ports as some are rubbish, but some don't look great but you can use them to visit some great places, so my point is look beyond the port.
Ask DD what she would like to see?
Now one thing to consider, look at the ships trips, they won't be cheap but can usually be done cheaper on your own, remember a coach load of people will keep you waiting whilst all 56 go to the loo so this is factored in to the trip.
As an example, Whilst in Israel I broke via the internet a trip, it was £300 for 6 people for a full 12 hour day it was fantastic all don't with an official Israel tourism licence guide, same trip via the cruise $1000 each so $6000 about £3000 at the time. So home work and you will have a great time.
Just one work of warning, if you book direct and have an issue your credit card will protect you, if you book via an agent you have no protection as we found out on P&O with a sewage flooded cabin on a grubby ship, never again!

If you're doing a short cruise , Liverpool isn't ideal. It's several days at sea to get anywhere. And that's really only uK and Ireland. So unless you're very lucky with the weather you won't be lounging on deck in the sun.

Like others said far better to fly to maybe Palma or Barcelona and pick up a seven night med cruise. Lots more families and some decent excursions.

Do not take a teen on Fred Olsen. They will never forgive you!

Royal Carribean, Disney, MSC are all amazing lines for a teen. You will struggle wanting to sail from Liverpool though. Most go from Southampton or Dover.

We’ve done a Fred Olsen cruise with teenagers. It was an experience I’d ever want anyone to repeat.

rubbish Wi-Fi. Nothing for them to do apart from the pool which was tiny. I’m no teenager and I’ll never go on one again either.

it was a good job the destination was decent.

on the other hand. All cruises seem to do cabins for 3. Some offer free child places or heavy discounted

A couple we know are 80 and 83, went on a Fred Olson Cruise and didnt enjoy it said it was full of old people!

I came on to warn you off Fred Olsen but I see many have beaten me too it. It's my in laws (in their 70s) favourite. They've must have done about 20 of them. They are not the eldest by far. Don't take a teen on there! In fact don't go yourself if you are under 60. They've told me several tales of having a helicopter evacuation. And worse, of those who don't need the urgent evac... That's the demographic.
