Hey everyone! My first post on here as I am hoping this is a good place to get advice! My son has Ketotic Hypoglycaemia which means that is he gets unwell his blood sugar drops and ketones rise and he often has to go to hospital for treatment, I finally feel like I could potentially take him away on his first abroad holiday (he’s 5 and my anxiety has meant we’ve only done UK holidays) but my only catch is I don’t want to be on a plane for too long (so Spain, South of France, Portugal) and I need to be near an A&E, not a medical centre but an actual A&E, other than that I don’t mine if it’s an apartment with a pool, all inclusive, half board, large or small hotel I don’t mind at all, just looking for the safety of knowing an A&E is close by.

It’s so hard to find this information online and google maps is driving me mad! Was wondering if anyone has been on holiday or can recommend a place/hotel that is close to an A&E/Urgencias?

thanks in advance!

European centerparcs are amaxing and about a third of the price of the UK ones. They have a whataspp number and 24 hour staff for any emergencies. The one in holland at kempervennen has an emeergency department within aprox 10km. We have also visited der eemhof and i know that has an emergency room close too as we haf to contact them, but can't recall the exact distance

Denia on the Costa Blanca?

That is where the main hospital is for that area.

PIL have a place in Moraira which is a short drive away. It has lovely beaches and lots of villas or apartments to rent. Not many hotels though.

Also Javea / Xavia is nice too.

For both you'd fly into Alicante or Valencia.

FWIW, PIL were there for about 3 years until June 2022. MIL has had lots of falls and the ambulance was there within minutes.

Wherever you go, you will need to make sure your travel insurance will cover his pre-existing condition so you're covered for any costs should he need treatment.

Most of the hospitals near resorts have translators attached.

We visited Majorca a few years ago and had a stay at Manacor Hospital. It had a separate children's A&E and various children's wards. We were well looked after with a private room and excellent care.

Zell am See, Austria. Plenty of apartments. Hotels with pools and spa facilities. A couple of lakeside beaches/lidos, with swimming in the lake itself or in a pool. Stunning mountain views, and hiking trails, kids' playgrounds etc. on the mountains. Vintage steam train ... and an excellent hospital should you need it.

Less than 2 hours flight from London, Manchester, Edinburgh/Glasgow (and some other UK airports) and 90 mins from Salzburg airport.

We had the same experience. They were very good.

Any Dutch city by Eurostar. When there's a medical emergency the train stops at the next station with an ambulance waiting. Almost all Dutch health care professionals speak excellent English.
