Eurocamp in Italy

afrikat · 08/01/2023 15:50

Anyone been to any of the Italian Eurocamps? We are having a week with friends in Tuscany next year and want to do a second week somewhere. DH is keen on Eurocamp but I'm not convinced. Be good to get feedback from people who have been?

If you’re short on time, here’s a summary of the best Eurocamp sites in Italy that Mumsnetters are recommending on this thread:

😎Bella Italia, Lake Garda

😎Union Lido, Venice

😎Park Albatros, Tuscany

😎Camping Fabulous Village, Rome

😎Pra delle Torri, Adriatic

Highly recommend Camping Fabulous. The site is located 15 minutes from the centre of Rome.

Does the accommodation have air con? X

Same!! we had a great holiday there before Covid. So easy to get in and out of Rome, pool, restaurant and shop. Easy to get to the beach as well.

These days, usually. It specifies when you book. I always recommend aircon and a covered deck. In fact I always booked the biggest, newest one I could afford.

We've been to Italy several times. If you do decide to go I would recommend you find a site that you like the look of and then contact them directly. The eurocamp caravan stock is often not as up to date as their own stock. The mobile homes on the sites we visited often had fully covered awnings and outdoor kitchens. Whereas the eurocamp mobile homes, had no outdoor area except a smallish porch with a table and parasol. It also tends to be a bit cheaper.

We really liked cavallino-treporti because of its proximity to Venice and the islands. We've hired a car and done days trips to Padua, Verona and Treviso. We've also taken the train to Bologna.

Thank you x

I was wondering the same myself. Great recommendation about booking accommodation separately!

We have 3 DC aged 7 and under. Are these parks more suited to older kids? I’m a bit concerned about the swimming pools with the little ones. Are there camps people would recommend for younger kids? (Hope you don’t mind me asking on your post OP!)

MissAmbrosia · 10/01/2023 19:52

On Eurocamp you can search for suitable sites for different ages. Union Lido/Parc Albatross had plenty going on for littler ones.

We stayed with this company several times, their sites often have what they call lagoon pools which are shallow and large with a slightly squashy floor, ideal for younger children.

@MissAmbrosia @BellaRagazza Thank you both for replying to my question. It’s great to have recommendations

Residence Village is a campsite just along the road from Union etc in Cavallino - Treporti and it's great.for younger kids. We stopped going because my children outgrew it. It feels very safe and we allowed the children a bit more freedom to go out on their scooters. There are security guards at the front of the site and at the beach entrances so feels very safe. The usual kids clubs and mini discos and the pool area is excellent for littler ones. It's a four star campsite but probably not as expensive as some of the bigger campsites. All the facilities are incredibly clean and the staff are all incredibly friendly (except the older woman who works in the kiosk but we got to know her over the years and she just looks grumpy, she's actually lovely 🤣). There is a bus stop right outside and bus travel is cheap to take you one way towards Punto Sabbioni for the ferry to Venice or the other way towards Lido de Jesolo where there is a funfair, aquarium and shopping and another beach. There are fantastic cycle lanes and bike hire is fairly reasonable if you want to explore on bikes. I would recommend not getting them from your campsite but getting them from Bozatto Tourist Services because they are much cheaper. You can hire a boat and explore the lagoon...which is breathtaking. I now I'm rabbiting on, but I miss it. 😁

@Nightynightnight Thanks so much for that. It sounds ideal!! Going to look in to it now. Thanks again

Sorry I don’t know much about eurocamp but I wondered if you could recommend a hotel/villa in Tuscany?

LookingForPurpose · 19/09/2023 11:28

@Lauras7316

Park albatross is next to the beach and norceni girasole is in the mountains. Both are in Tuscan and very sensibly priced. Can be booked by eurocamp or the site themselves, human travel/hu openair

OMGitsnotgood · 19/09/2023 15:50

We did Norcenni Girasole in Tuscany, it was fabulous. If you are looking at a different part of Italy, we have been to Ca Savio. Not much in the town itself but the restaurants there are great and very reasonable. take the boat from nearby Punta Sabbioni into Venice. Also been to Camping Village Fabulous, a nearby bus stop for bus then train into Rome.

We found the campsite restaurants far better quality and more reasonable than in eg France and Spain.

Caveat: it was several years pre-Covid since we did these so don't have any uptodate knowledge

Resentful2023 · 19/09/2023 15:57

Another great holiday in Parc Albatross here. Booked with Canvas and lovely new clean mobile home. Went to Marina Di Venezia with Eurocamp last year. Great campsite but the Eurocamp mobiles were old and scruffy. You can book directly with campsites too. I'm not sure what Eurocamp bring to the table really, they didn't have their own kids camp or anything. For Parc Albatross we hired a car and visited Pisa, Elba (stunning) and had a brilliant day trip to the CavalinoMatto theme park. But all that could also be done on day trips from the campsite. Beach was fab and no jellyfish! Instead there was fish in the water and the kids got snorkels and swam around watching them.

afrikat · 19/09/2023 19:44

We ended up doing Parc Albatros and it was great but MASSIVE and we were quite a way from the pool. The nearby beaches were nice and did a lovely day trip to Siena
